This is the best Mediterranean food in town. Very tasty, juicy and the smell of the Mediterranean food opens your appetite from the door. The restaurant is beautiful clean and very wide and lovely. It is located in a very good area surrounded by so many stores and other facilities. If you are hungry and not knowing what you need, don’t think twice come here and you will receive the best food and hospitality you have ever wished for.

I have tried several Mediterranean restaurants in the ILM/Wilmington area, but this place was LEGIT! I ordered the Classic Gyro w/fries & the Greek Gyro Platter. The classic gyro was one of the BEST that I have ever had! The ingredients were super fresh as you can see from the photos, and the portions were well above standards! The Greek Gyro platter came with gyro meat, Greek salad, hummus, and tzatziki sauce. I got both spicy and I highly recommend both! Service was polite and fast, and there is plenty of seating if you wish to dine in! If you are wanting Mediterranean with amazing portions & fresh ingredients then give Peño a try!

I have eaten at this restaurant and at the other location many times. The food is always very good. The reason I have an overall score of two stars is because of the service. After receiving our food, I asked for a side of mayo. I was charged $1.06 for a small amount of mayo—the same amount of ketchup they give you with your food. (see pics). I do not like writing bad reviews, and I do not write them to communicate with the restaurant. I write reviews because I enjoy providing my evaluation for the general public. I understand how difficult the restaurant business is, especially right now with high food prices, so please know I am pro-restaurant. I spend a lot of $ eating out, as you can tell if you follow me. I want the best for this restaurant, BUT charging me $1.06 for a small amount of mayo is an excellent way to lose a customer. In the long run, the restaurant is losing $ by trying to cover the Mayo cost.
I scored the atmosphere a three because this location is not very old, but I think it already needs a makeover; they only had one table set up with chairs to eat outside. That is why I scored a three on the atmosphere. It’s not a big deal, just my opinion.
As I said, the food is very good. They do not have a lot of competition in the Wilmington Market. I have a couple of places on my list to go try, but as of now, this is where I go if I want a really good Gyro. The fries are delicious as well. The seasoning they put on them is yummy. I noticed this time that the portion size of meat in the gyro was a lot less, but before, it was a lot of chicken, and now it is portioned right, so that did not matter to me—just an observation. I will go back and hope to have a better experience next time. If so, I will re-score and report back on my experience. I do recommend trying this restaurant if you want a delicious gyro. It is what it is.

Giving them a 4 star. Their Babaganush is pretty good. I make it myself and it’s tasty. Good humus and pita bread. Their gyros and other selections are pretty good. It’s a fast food place. I have been to other Greek and Mediterranean places that are better. But this place is not that expensive. Flalfalls are not bad. Place is clean. service is decent.

I have been to the location on College Rd and it was fantastic!! The food was so flavorful and everything was so fresh!! However this time it was closer to go the Dusty Miller lane location. Big mistake. First of all it was freezing in the restaurant . The gentlemen behind us finally asked if they could turn up the temperature. I ordered the chicken bowl which is what I love. The chicken had no flavor and it was dry. The salad looked like it had been frozen because some of the lettuce was clear. The cucumbers were the same way. It was almost like it had been premade and they took the chicken off the bowl that had been on there and recooked it. I was so disappointed and disgusted. I would have taken it back but I don’t think it would have been any better. I will stick to the location on College Rd where they know how to cook.

We have eaten at 3 different Penos over the years. One in Charlotte and two in Wilmington. This location is by far the superior of the three. The owners are super friendly and truly care about the quality of food they serve their customers. Everything we ate was absolutely delicious! I was given a sample of the lentil soup as we were leaving. Wow! That is the best lentil soup I have ever had in a restaurant. Before we head back home to Kannapolis, we plan to stop here for lunch and to get lentil soup to take home. To top it all off..the restaurant is very clean…no dirty tables here! Try it when you are in the area. You will not be disappointed!

First of all the prices advertised may not be what you pay. The guy said it had to be updated. That is when we should have left. We ordered the gyro salad. It had overcooked gyro on top of mostly iceberg lettuce. Horrible food. Just not a good place to spend your
money. The jerky from a convenience store would have been better.

This is a very clean, very customer service oriented establishment. The moment I walked in I felt appreciated and welcome. Then the employees and owner were all working and all smiles. The food was very fresh, authentic and I watched them make it while getting information on the shopping area and suggestions for other food and activities. Great food, great atmosphere.
