I enjoyed the Doro wat with injera the other day. The serving was two chicken legs with a hard boiled egg in the berbere stew – chili was dominant – the onion base was there but a bit hidden. This was all served over injera with more injera rolled up. There was fresh homemade cheese on the side.

I did add more salt to the dish as I felt it was needed.

The injera was perfect – a beautiful soft crepe to pick up the chicken.

So grateful to have found this place! The woman working in the truck was so nice and pleasant. I got the vegan platter and I could taste the high-quality ingredients and love she put into making it. The food was even thoughtfully arranged in my little to go box— putting the stewed peas on top of a slice of the bread so it didn’t seep into the to-go box packaging (which was compostable, not styrofoam!) The meal was perfect and I can’t say enough good things about this place. Thank you!

I first had Abyssinia’s food at the Empty bowl benefit and they were one of my very faves out of 40+ soups offered by local restaurants. I don’t know why it took me so long to park in the back lot and go try their food at their restaurant, but I decided to give it a go today and it did not disappoint! This was wonderful and I’ll be back again to try something else!
I had the Tibs plate with chicken and everything was just seasoned to perfection. I’ve never had Ethiopian food other than their soup, so I wasn’t sure if I would like everything, but it was all excellent. I noticed they also have vegetarian and vegan options, and I can’t wait to bring my daughter-in-law here the next time she comes to visit.
It’s 102 degrees this afternoon and it’s just so hot! That said, the covered patio area of this food truck park with fans was not uncomfortable until I was finished eating. I am writing this review from my air-conditioned vehicle lol.

I have been strictly vegetarian for five years, and the Vegan & Vegetarian plate was truly some of the most fresh and delicious food I have ever eaten! The value of the meal was great as well. I had not ever had the chance to try Ethiopian food before, and I’m so glad accidentally stumbled upon this food truck. Also, the woman running it was very kind.
I also tried their fresh-squeezed lemonade, and it was absolutely wonderful with a little fresh mint. I stopped by at about 1:30pm on a Sunday, so the food court was very peaceful. Overall, this was one of the most beautiful, fresh, and healthy tasting meals I have ever had. The photo speaks for itself. I highly recommend Abyssinia Cafe.

It’s the real deal for Ethiopian food tucked in a food truck court in Bastrop, Texas. There’s lamb, beef, chicken, plus vegan and vegetarian plates. The food was fresh, flavorful and decently priced, served with a smile and real hospitality. Can’t wait to go back–It’s worth the hour and a half drive!

This place is SO GOOD!! Food tastes fresh and delicious. Look at all this meat I got! The lamb was spicy and seasoning was perfect! Will definitely return. The lady working was very sweet and adorable, too. Some of the best food in Bastrop. Can’t wait to try other dishes. Also, the flatbread is GLUTEN FREE. Highly recommend.

Their food is delicious! My favorite is the vegetarian plate, but the lamb tibs plate is also wonderful. Fresh, real, nourishing food. There’s usually a nice breeze at the food truck court, so it’s a pleasant–and often social–place to eat onsite. Plus, they’re open Mondays. Abyssinia is a highlight of Bastrop food!
