I’m in 2 minds about this place the food tasted good.But for the amount I paid for my meal I expected more. I’m not wanting to sound greedy but on the picture it looked a plate full but my plate looked kinda spars. Be carefull if you get a plate with paper on as a liner it mushes up and you end up eating it.it was comfortable clean and the free popcorn and water was a good touch.i have put some pictures on you decide if £30+ for for my meaty meals looks worth fit.Very tasty tho.the salad bowl looked more like a plant pot

We spontaneously decided to head to Hickory’s Smokehouse by the river in Chester and on arrival found the venue nicely decorated for Christmas which added a warm and welcoming feel.
We walked in and were greeted by a polite host who guided us to our table. It was not a particularly busy afternoon but there was a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere throughout.
Not long after taking our seats we were welcomed by our server who helped us with the menus and took our drinks order. After a short wait we placed our food order and chose the chicken burger with fries along with a side of pulled pork in beans.
Whilst we waited some complimentary popcorn was brought to the table which was a nice touch. Around 10 to 15 minutes later our food arrived and looked great. After a few bites we were more than happy as the food tasted exactly as expected and was very enjoyable.
Overall we really enjoyed our spontaneous visit and appreciated the efforts of the team who looked after us so well.

Had such a lovely time at Hickory’s for our anniversary, felt extremely looked after and the food was AMAZING! Our servers were lovely, and all staff we interacted with congratulated us 🙂 the smoked bacon starter was SO good, even as someone who doesn’t like pork!
Our server Billy went above and beyond, and was so attentive and helpful, and even brought us a little celebratory dessert and Prosecco for our celebration 🙂

A neat place to visit right on the river. Cool stuff all over the walls. Very fun if you’ve ever been to America. The food was decent. The ribs were a bit dry at times, but the jalapeno and cheese sausage was yummy. The shakes are so tasty and probably gave me diabetes.
The server looked like she would rather be sorting trash in Birmingham than take our order. It took many attempts to get a fourth set of silverware and a glass for water. Had to pretty much pull in another server so we could finally get our bill. I would go again because I liked the atmosphere, but if the staff was similar again then I would cross it off the list.

My fiancé and I came to have cocktails after dinner out. While the drinks were delicious, the bar seating was dirty with a pile of empty glasses from previous customers that were never taken away and no staff to ask besides the bar staff that were busy, plus the payment reader/book with the previous customers receipt that I handed back to the bar staff. So that was a little disappointing.

It’s just right. Everything has been thought of ahead of time. It’s clean, service is excellent and the food is always great. Go here if you want to have a decent dining experience with good atmosphere and friendly staff. Hickory’s does family dining right.

The building is beautiful being situated right on the river, but the internal decor is just fantastic, giving real redneck American vibes.
From the moment I arrived all of the staff were great. Really friendly and attentive without being over the top and annoying.
I had fajitas which were incredible – genuinely tasty! I finished off with a rum milkshake. Not going to lie, I felt like I was going to have a food coma when I left.
Really great evening.

Service was ok we had told them we was celebrating so had the board on table but wasn’t asked what the celebration was. They was good with my gluten free choice explaining how it all works. Enjoyed our food it wasn’t piping hot it was like ready to eat. The atmosphere was relaxing music in the background few other customers on tables got more busy as the evening got on.

Came for my nans birthday and Rachel was incredible! Super kind and made the day extra special- thank you so much! Tried the new brunch menu and the chicken cinnamon bun was delicious. Great value for money will definitely be returning!
