Although it is described as an Italian restaurant, the food felt much more Turkish in style and flavor. The fried calamari we ordered did not taste freshly made — it seemed like it had been frozen and simply reheated. It definitely did not have the crispy, freshly fried taste you would expect, especially compared to what you might get at a pub.
Overall, the food was disappointing considering the nice atmosphere of the restaurant. Unfortunately, I don’t think I would return.
Service to receive items was just as kind.
We were able to order manicotti with a sub of Alfredo, which I understand was odd.
Order was placed as a takeout at 530, prime dinner crowd hours, though there weren’t many filled tables inside.
The only item that remained warm after the 7 minute drive to the Residence Inn by Marriott was the regular Alfredo.
The pasta of both manicotti dishes were rubbery and dry. The cannelloni pasta was of similar texture.
Overall displeased with the food items, especially in consideration with the cost.
Maybe it’s a takeout issue? I’m hesitant to return.
I was also confused with the loaf of semi-stale bread, but that may be a personal issue.
The food came out faster than I expected, and both the waiters and the new owners were very attentive to everything we needed.
They have a new special menu with some really tasty dishes. We tried the Oliva’s Special Pizza, and it was absolutely delicious. The homemade Burro sauce was the perfect touch, offering a excellent fusion between Italian and Mediterranean flavors.
They also offer a nice selection of wines, beers, and local drinks to go perfectly with your meal.
Bread and lentil soup were tasty as always.
Lamb shish kabob was cooked to order, would order again.
Thanks for offering lamb, unusual in Wisconsin.
Rice and side salad were tasty.
Chicken Marsala had good mushrooms and pasta.
Actual chicken pieces were small, numerous and possibly previously frozen. Sauce watery, not thick and dark as should be.
Gyro meat was NOT freshly cooked, previously cooked, came from refrigerator and was reheated to order. The meat should be sliced from an active cooking spit for best taste and presentation.
The visual allure, enticement of a spit with cooking gyros meat was gone from Oliva on a Saturday evening.
Probably a management economy move, does not send a good message to customers.
Up to date payment at table is modern time saving convenience for restaurant and clients.
