Had lunch here and really enjoyed it. The food was delicious, the waitress was wonderful, and the atmosphere was very pleasant. Definitely a go-to spot.

Everything was awesome…from the service…to every meal we got and the Almond Pie was scrumptious! It looks beautiful in there!

Have eaten at most of the Portuguese restaurants in the area but never at NM. I ordered a Cacoila plate yesterday and was disappointed. The rice and fries were abundant but I barely had enough Cacoila to make a sandwich. I ordered a roll also. 4 pieces for $18 was a joke. About half what I expected and usually get at other places.

Whenever Rick and I yearn for genuine Portuguese steak, Novo Mundo is the only place that springs to mind. Their new establishment is outstanding. I commend Carla and her son for their remarkable efforts. As soon as you step inside, it’s as if you’ve arrived in Portugal. The impressive murals showcasing our history and culture make this restaurant a true representation of our heritage. I strongly recommend this venue to anyone interested in sampling authentic Portuguese cuisine.

THE SERVICE:

Prompt and friendly service for takeout. I was provided a menu to browse and then offered a seat. As a new customer, I appreciated the waitress’ detailed description about the dishes I inquired about.

The restaurant is small, but they make good use of the limited space. The atmosphere was bustling but inviting.

THE FOOD:

I ordered the grilled pork chops which came with white rice and fries. I paid extra for their signature hot sauce which proved to be the saving grace.

The pork chops were cooked to the perfect temperature, but bland. I could not detect the marinade or spice blend.

The white rice had a nice flavor profile and texture. The fries were industry standard. The homemade hot sauce truly elevated the flavor profile of the meal- it was simply delicious and I regret not purchases more.

THE VALUE:

Portions are in abundance for an affordable price. I am looking forward to further exploring the menu.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

The restaurant was a little challenging to locate. Unlike the picture online, the sign is now flush to the building making it hard to spot while driving. Adding signage to the front door would also be helpful because I initially thought the restaurant was a private space and walked past it.

I waited for my order in my vehicle and saw a few patrons also walk by the entrance, double back, and then tentatively push the unmarked door open.

We go to cuttyhunk every summer and always make it a point to get food from here before catching the ferry. Everything is delicious but make sure to try the rotisserie chicken and hot sauce. I wish I could bottle the hot sauce and eat it every day!

The staff is always friendly and I have never had a bad meal!

I was anxious to try Novo Mundo after so many years and at their new location.
The location was easy to get to and has off street parking. We were able to get a table away from the door on this cold January night. However there’s no good spot to sit to get away from the cold. (My feet were numb by the end of the meal).
We ordered the chicken wings with piri piri sauce. You get 8 small chicken wings with sauce which is just like a buffalo sauce.
I ordered the fish and chips and hubby ordered the whole chicken with rice and vegetables.
I was disappointed with the portions of the fish. Plenty of fries but not much fish. Since hubby didn’t get the standard rice and fries but the veggies, there was an up charge for the
previously frozen veggies. Again portion for the chicken was disappointing. I was hoping it would be the same sauce I remembered but it was a Tabasco/strong vinegar sauce, which was inedible. I was hoping I would love the food as in the past but will not be returning.

Went there for lunch today. I ordered the fish and chips. I was disappointed. I do NOT like shoestring French fries . They cool down too fast. Half way thru the meal the fries are cod.
