I was in town and visited Smiling Faces on a recommendation from a friend who lives in Vegas, and I’m glad I listened!
I started with the chips and salsa. The chips were freshly homemade, crispy, and delicious. The salsa also tasted fresh and homemade, with great flavor and just the right amount of spice.
For my meal, I ordered the stuffed sopapilla with shredded beef, swapping the beans for papitas, and had it smothered Christmas style. I appreciated that they let me choose between hot or medium chile, I went with hot, and it was fantastic. Spicy enough to enjoy, but not overwhelming. The portion was huge and I really enjoyed each bite!
It did take a little while to get my food, but the service was friendly, everything is made fresh to order, and there are signs noting that they’re short-staffed, so it was understandable.
If I had any constructive feedback to help take this place to the next level, it would be: adding a bit of chile inside the stuffed sopa over the filling to keep it from being a little dry, and serving the chile just a bit warmer, it wasn’t quite as stove-hot as I would have liked..
Overall, it was a great meal. Thank you, Smiling Faces! I’ll definitely be stopping back in next time I’m in Vegas.

Absolutely the best taco I’ve ever had in my life. I’m talking about their regular beef tacos, not the Indian taco, which is much different. The Indian taco takes up a half page on the menu, but it’s the small regular tacos that I am talking about so don’t order the wrong one. Homemade shells, homemade salsa, marinated beef. It was an eye-roller. I live in Missouri and I made a special 100-mile detour when I was on a trip west just to eat there a second time. How I wish she would share their salsa recipe and the marinade recipe for their shredded taco beef. It simply melts in your mouth. Maybe one of these days I will be able to enjoy their tacos again.

Don’t expect “fast” food. This place cooks to order, and the food was fantastic. I had the roast beef, and my only concern was that the portion was far too big for me.

Love the taste of the food, great plates Red & Green! Hate the wait, do expect to be there a while! Service is not so bad! The place is usually pretty clean.

WONDERFUL NewMex food! Sadly, I could not resist diving into my huevos rancheros before I took photos. The red chilie, especially, is not to be missed.
Their hours are spotty, be sure to check before you arrive; it took me several attempts to achieve newmex nervana.

This place is a gem. Obviously a local favorite and it’s clear why. Large portions, fantastic flavor, well cooked food. I highly recommend the tacos (chicken and shredded beef) and the tamales.

This little dog-friendly gem is about one mile off I-25. They have a great patio where Fido is welcomed. The patio is covered and has very comfy swivel rocking patio chairs to enjoy sitting in while eating at your table. Friendly staff even tho they were short-handed. Clean bathrooms. Decent food. We ate there during a water shortage due to recent wildfires, so most eating utensils were styrofoam + plastic.

This place NEVER dissapoints! This is mine and my husband go to when we come down to visit Las Vegas. The quality of the food never changes. We went to two other NM food restaurants during our visit and both places were very disappointing It seems like they either lacked, quality, salt or any kind of seasoning. Also, their waitresses are always friendly. Anyways, give this place a try! Amazing food, large portion sizes for a great price!

Waited at least 30 minutes for our food, even longer to get our order placed. The tea was weak, very watery. My friend ordered a burger and his was hot and fresh while my Navajo taco was lukewarm. The burger was great, the taco was subpar, without the chile sauce it was very bland. The icing on the cake was when we went to pay.. we were informed the the menu price was incorrect and they charged us extra, at my protest.

I am a local and I used to love eating here. The service sucks and you’d think being a loyal customer you’d be treated nicely. The food is great, but seems to be every time I eat from there recently I get sick and I have to spend the next two days close to a bathroom. Not to mention that quality and quantity are very inconsistent. I will not be spending my time or money on this place anymore. Vegas used to have some of the best food in NM. Now it’s been spiraling down. I look forward to going out of town just to get good service and good food. I would advise to eat somewhere else. To each their own.
