Absolutely LOVED this place! The food was fantastic, the drinks were delicious and our servers were great. Went as a group for a birthday dinner and the woman who brought out our food offered to take some group photos of us, and got all the angles ❤️ Our waiter checked on us regularly and was very willing to check on dietary questions with the kitchen for us. We all really enjoyed the birria egg roll and shrimp tempura taco among other items.

Overall amazing place. Definitely recommend getting a reservation if you plan to go around peak dinner time, but after 9 it was a little less busy and quieter.

Wonderful drink selection. The entire menu feels enticing but was a tad disappointing with the chicken tacos. Sushi was a little overpriced. Overall, would come back.

Mestiizo has great drinks, great ambiance, but the food left a bit to be desired for the price point. We started with the chips and salsas, we also tried the Cochinita taco, Suadero taco, Minamoto roll, and Nueve roll. While each item was good overall, it felt overpriced for the flavor. I have had much better tacos and sushi for the price point. With a fusion of asian and mexican flavors, neither felt like they were executed exceptionally well. I would recommend coming for the drinks and vibes over the food.

We had a great time here! We went for Valentine’s Day and we were amazed by this place. The mexikana sushi was simply delicious and all the ingredients were well put together. My carne asada was delicious. we’re definitely coming back soon!

What a concept of a restaurant. Tex-Mex and Asian fusion is not something you’d typically see on a menu. It works!!!!!! The menu has a good selection of each kind of cuisine and the ones that they picked to showcase are excellent.
The bar tenders are very knowledgeable and make delicious cocktails in fun glasses.
The service is great. They have food runners so the food always comes out hot and fresh!
The atmosphere is fun, vibrant, loud, and bustling. The red light gives it a late night spot and it’s located in a neighborhood with a lot of other food places to get food and drinks.

Some new restaurants open with a lot of hype. You read about them everywhere. Some fly in under the radar. Mestiizo is one of the latter. This restaurant/bar is sensational! It is best described as a Latin/Asian fusion restaurant. The three chefs that created the menu really knew what they were doing. Birria egg rolls? YES! Tuna crudo tostada? YES!

First, their bar program is phenomenal. They had a large list of cocktails of their own creation. All the ones we tried were excellent. I particularly liked the “nameless” martini. They also have a large list of classics – often a good reminder not to get your “usual”. They also have a list of all their liquors- really interesting!

Now to the food – The birria eggroll (you get 1) was delicious! The consomme with it had a surprising taste note. The tuna tostada was great. Crudo tuna covered with a mix of salsa negra and salsa matcha and topped with a variety of crunchy veggies. We loved the taco cochinita – very flavorful pork in a chipotle-yuzu salsa. Yum. We also had their elote. The corn was topped with lots of cheese and crema and is good to share.

We opted for mains, which we don’t often do. I had the octopus – perfectly cooked and tender, and the plating was gorgeous! My husband had the carne asada. The meat was cooked to perfection. We really had a great meal.

I tried their mango dessert- sitting on a cookie- so the dessert had creamy and crunchy elements. Lovely but not so rich you couldn’t eat it.

The service is great. They really know their menu, and they are great about asking if you have allergies. I recommend reservations. The place got crowded as we sat there. I would also like to mention that the entire menu is gluten-free.

I loved this place. I haven’t been to a bar/restaurant in quite a while that I enjoyed this much.

Really great service even when the restaurant was fully seated. The tables are set very nicely and the red lighting was really nice. The kenko roll was good, but not better than an avocado cucumber roll which I usually order. The sushi also fell apart a little bit.

Delicious dinner at Mestiizo last night. The drink menu is robust and varied with winners for all preferences. But for us, the food was the real star of the show. Their special Tuna Tataki had incredible quality tuna deftly put together with citrus ponzu, guajillo sauce, and pickles. The birria egg roll is a no brainer. Typically I’m not big on getting steak at restaurants because I feel like I make a better one at home, but this was perfection paired with the Thai Chimichurri. And for dessert, the buñuelos are the perfect light way to satisfy your sweet tooth. Will definitely be back.

They are well polished considering they’ve only been open less than a month. Mostly hits but a few misses on the menu: for drinks, the Pina Tropical is a clever take on a pina colada, with green curry being surprisingly complimentary, if slightly on the too subtle side. The Purple Storm is good but needs more punch. Their house made Tepache vermouth is interesting and complex. For food, a few dishes were memorable. The short rib is tender and rich. The birria eggroll worked well, though we would have liked two of them. The tuna tostada was good but forgettable. The shishito elote, which should technically be called esquites, was excellent but with a suggestion: the shishitos are minced and hard to discern. They should be prominent and intact. If you’re going to feature the novelty of using shishitos in a traditional mexican dish, then feature them fully! The pork belly taco was good, but order multiple if you plan to share. The most notable miss was the Mexikana roll. It was good enough but slightly boring. The barramundi was superb, with a great crispy skin and charred cabbage. Our server was enthusiastic and high energy, and knew the menu well. The owner, Danny, was warm and friendly. We will definitely be back with friends.

This is absolutely Minnesota’s new vibe. I’ve got a lot to fill you in on, and I’ll update you soon. But for now, let me be crystal clear… if you try one restaurant in the entire Midwest, make it this one. It’s worth the trip, no question.
