First time at the Road Runner Pub.. stopped for something to eat and was very impressed.. typical pub atmosphere but then some.. Clean, friendly service and the food is off the charts ! Although I am a few hours away I will make my way to the Road Runner again ! Love the stickers !!!!! those who know will know what I’m talking about… Please if your in the area, look them up !

We went to Phantom Burgers but it was complete chaos. I had never been to Road Runners but it has good reviews. So 3 minutes away we came here. Quiet. Good background music. We are from NY and felt a lower east side vibe with the grates on the windows as if we’re were in a lower level.. What really impressed us was the floors. Old but immaculate. So clean. The server/bar maid was sweet and so happy to hear we were happy. We both had burgers . Cooked perfectly. The fries were also good. So many places you can taste cold grease. Not here. The pour of wine was good. We will definitely be back. I don’t give out 5 stars often. But Road runners really impressed us for a small bar in the quiet town of Higganum. I have to add that after posting my review I read another. They called it a townie bar and thought they were being looked at. That was my concern coming here. Didn’t happen to us. Don’t be deterred by a small local bar in a small town. I also want to clarify my 5 stars. I give 5 stars for a bar. You are not getting Capital Grille food here it’s not a restaurant . It’s a bar and for a bar it’s really good.

I hate to be a downer, but I have no idea why this is so highly rated. This has the feel of a townie bar, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing (although in this case it kinda is). We figured we’d give it a shot and were disappointed.
The food is decent. Not amazing, but nothing inherently wrong with it either. We arrived on a Friday night and it was dead. There were a couple of guys drinking at the bar, but no one was eating dinner. I would think that if it’s a 4.5+ star establishment it would be packed, not dead.
The other patrons seemed to be giving us the evil eye the whole time we were there (not sure if it was because we weren’t regulars or something else). We certainly didn’t feel welcome.
That said the server/bartender was pleasant and super welcoming, so there is nothing to complain about in regard to the staff.
The bottom line is that this is a solid bar with some slightly upscale beers (all IPAs), and decent pub fare for food. I think if an establishment has a 4.5+ star review I have higher expectations and it fails under that idea.

Very nostalgic! From the decor, to the layout, to the menu….this was a very enjoyable visit! Food was great and my friends and I had a very good sized portion!!!!

Was passing through and had to try it. Super cute place. The staff was so nice. And the food was really good at a great price. I would highly recommend if you are in the area and want to stop for a meal or drink.

Decided to come in tonight while my wife was out of town. Initially I was a bit surprised. It was brightly lit and had some current pop music playing. Was definitely expecting more of a “pub” feeling (which I was hoping for, but definitely think many would prefer this type atmosphere). Free popcorn on the bar and a decent crowd occupying the bar, so I grabbed a seat at a high top. The bartender ran over immediately to give me a menu. The menu was very small with a small but decent beer selection. Ordered a beer which came quickly and was ICE cold in a frozen pint glass. Followed this with a burger. Burger came quickly and had a small mistake with a topping which was quickly fixed. It was pretty good and the toppings were generous. Bartender did a good job, she was very attentive. I’ll come back for sure. Hope to see the menu expand a little in the future, but for the first month I think this place is doing well.
Edit: This place put up a bunch of political flags and license plates around the restaurant. Certainly not going to go back.

Very good pub food!! Rita made some great drinks for us and inexpensive. We sat outside and there were a few smokers out there but most went to the side of the building so as not to bother us eating on a beautiful summer day. We each had the Greek pita with fries and it was great. The owner Maria is a great person.
