The decorations were authenti and calm ambiance was nice, and the bathrooms were clean.
Our server Jenna was sweet.
– their baba ganoush and muhammara tasted phenomenal! Highly recommend those for appetizers.
– kebabs had strong lamb flavor and probably the closest to authentic in Madison area.
– traditional decor and music were relaxing and a delight.
Cons:
– they share a hallway with a place that sells weed products so the smell inevitably gets inside.
– no black hot tea, only herbal teas even though they had the traditional Turkish tea cups. The only Turkish food place I’ve been to that doesn’t serve black tea!
– a small note, iskander kebab when done in Turkish way has an up charge. This was not on the menu nor was it mentioned by the waitress.
The wait staff were super kind about our rowdy toddler and immediately brought us some pita and soup to keep her occupied and fed while we waited for everything else. Overall the food was good, very solid, the pita was a little uninteresting and my chicken could have been a bit saltier but everything else was very flavorful and well done. Also, the portions are HUGE! Especially the pasta dishes could easily be split between two people, even three if you wanted small portions. We didn’t realize and were kind of taken aback by how much food comes with the entrees.
Nice environment, the decor is pleasant and I appreciated that the music was quiet.
Overall a good experience and we would go back.
The sauce? Chef’s kiss. The lobster? Generous and seasoned perfectly. Everything just melted together so beautifully.
I’m so proud of you, Figo. Your talent truly speaks for itself. If you haven’t tried the Lobster Ravioli yet, you’re missing out — it’s a 10/10 every single time.
Can’t wait to come back
My family and I were passing through and decided to stop here for a to-go order. I ordered the Ottoman Platter, a gyro for my husband, and a pasta dish for my son.
When we received our order, there were no utensils included. My husband went back inside to get some for us. We then continued on our drive, as we were heading home. While on the road, I began eating and quickly realized that the kebab in my Ottoman Platter seemed undercooked. Even though we were already about 15 minutes away, I decided to turn back.
When I explained the issue, I was told the kebab looked that way because of the onions used in the recipe. I pointed out that the chicken and other meats on the platter appeared to be cooked at a glance, so I didn’t understand why the kebab looked so different. I asked what type of onions were used, but the waiter said he didn’t know—only that this is what the owner had told him.
He offered me either a refund or the option to order something else. I said I still wanted food, so I placed a different order and chose the shrimp pasta dish. However, what I received was simply shrimp and cheese—there was no pasta. I didn’t go back again because I felt shy and we were short on time. Still, it was frustrating that even the replacement order was incorrect.
Food: 2/5
My husband and son were able to eat and enjoy their meals. Qadr Allāh, mine was the one with repeated issues—and it happened to be the most expensive. When I got home, I figured I could eat the other meats from the Ottoman Platter and just recook the kebab later, especially since the pasta dish came without pasta. But upon checking, I found that the other meats also had signs of being undercooked, which made it even more disappointing. I didn’t feel the price I paid was justified at all.
Service: 2/5
If not for the kind attitude of the lady who originally took our order, I would have rated this even lower. There was hesitation to resolve the issue, and although I was offered a replacement, it came out wrong—so the problem remained unresolved.
Atmosphere: 1/5
I was uncomfortable with the presence of statues and certain antiques in the dining area. It’s not an environment I would personally return to.
Final Verdict:
I don’t believe I’ll go back there to eat. But if I ever do, I’ll likely stick to what my husband or son ordered. I really disliked that I spent money on a dish that ended up being wrong—not once, but twice.
