I will give credit where it is due, the red snapper fried was pretty decent, and the salad and dressing was okay but the jollof rice was a waste. I was fooled with the big metal container that came out. I would not spend $44. here again. I am really beginning to think I will need to make my own West African food how I want it.

Great Ghanan food. The meat in the jolof rice was super tender and it was very flavorful. However, they are very understaffed and naturally struggle to cater when there is a big crowd. Nevertheless, the servers are very kind and sweet. They deserve a lot, admin should consider increasing servers for better service!

With classic Ghanian dishes included and the vibe friendly enough for a good conversation, this establishment had many options for every dish on the menu such as vegan, beef, chicken, fish, goat, and oxtail, ranging from $22 to $25 as standard price points. The food here is very authentic and has been approved by many of my West African friends living in the DMV area.
My friends and I decided to order one kind of each dish along with one kind of each side so we can try a bit of each. The okra soup was a bit too spicy for my taste, but it contained a lot of flavor, which could be neutralized a bit by the fufu that I ordered. The peanut butter soup was very creamy and flavorful. The jollof was a bit plain, but since the spinach stew was flavorful, it was all good. The wings seemed like an outlier amongst everything else we had ordered, and they were a bit dry, but with two types of dipping sauces, they worked out just fine.
Even though there are so many West African restaurants within the DMV area, I find this establishment to be one of the most authentic ones. Since Ghanian food itself is already fire in general, one can’t go wrong with coming here.

Listen, this place is amazing. My wife and I got fufu (she got pepper soup, I got peanut butter soup) and it was sooo good! Our waitress CynCere was an absolute joy. We had such good conversation with her and she completely made our experience we will definitely be back on our trips to DC.

Me and me girls had a fabulous experience, our waitress was very friendly and patient with our ignorance with the menu. The mango ginger margarita that was recommended was amazing!! They ran with 2 waitresses that ran the entire establishment and hustled hard. There will be a wait for food but that’s how you know it’s fresh. Portions are huge and price is very reasonable. I highly recommend this restaurant. Be patient if they’re busy the flavor explosion is worth the wait.

Ugh I really want to love this place! It’s one of the only Ghanaian restaurants in the city that is close to my home. I enjoy the food, it’s definitely good but not great. My last experience was almost my last time ordering because the food was good but extremely overpriced. We got the sampler with fried fish, fried chicken, side of egusi and plantains. I got a side of stew for $2 that came in an 2 oz container for sauces. This is completely unacceptable. Like the service is already bad and the food is not that great, business is slow, why nickel and dime your returning customers?

I ate alone as I was traveling and always try to stop at authentic international restaurants that I can’t get back at home. My server was incredibly nice and super helpful in answering my questions about what would be the most traditional foods, etc. She was the only server there at the time and right after she took my order got slammed with many other tables, but she made a conscious effort to make sure I was taken care of even while trying to balance tending to her other tables. The food was fantastic, cost was reasonable, and Cynthia was incredibly kind and attentive. Highly recommend Appioo!

Visiting this Ghanaian restaurant is like visiting Accra in Ghana. Very very delicious cultural dishes and the freshest Palm wine.

I wanna highlight that Maafia was very helpful, she seemed very busy working alone and servicing many people in the restaurant and she was still patient and helpful with some issues with our check. This was our first time having Ghanian food, the kelewele was YUMMY and fufu and egusi was good although a lil oily. The vibes were chill, the music was great

Fufu with goat. Peanut soup very flavorful with chicken. Store bought wing with cajun dry rub spicey. But not over powering. Spinach very good. Seasoned well and plaintains. Which were good. Small portion of plaintain and spinach. Food took longer to prepare made upon request. Looks like they have live music by small stage setup. Volume moderate. Easy to talk. Parking hard to find.
