I went with a 4-year-old kid, I tried to order a “Wagyu Don” but requested for more well done. However, I was told that the wagyu beef must be cooked as medium rare in order to maximize its tastiness. I respected a lot on this as the chef is right, sometimes not everything could be compromised, especially for good food . Didn’t regret for still ordering one Wagyu Don, my son told me it was the best rice he ever had . My 9-year-old son ordered a Salmon Don. Overall we were very satisfied and definitely will come back again!
The restaurant seems nice & clean with great services. The sushi was fantastic, extremely fresh. The speciality hand rolls were all very creative with lots of good flavors. Just plain delicious. The H.Y.E handroll was by far my favorite.
100 for service
66 for food.
We ordered the 3 spicy handroll set to start, which was nice starter. There’s a little more kick than your everyday spicy tunas at other places, but still mild.
Then we added on other handrolls a la carte that we were individually curious about which included – wagyu, Uni wagyu, truffle Meiji mushroom, scallop, salmon truffle and the HYE (yellowtail belly). I think my personal favs were the HYE and scallop, but they were all tasty overall. Uni was fresh and mildly sweet, not too fishy. Wagyu was well-seasoned and prepared.
Service was friendly and efficient, especially Umida!! She’s so fun and charming, we had a great time chatting with her and she gave excellent recommendations.
Private lot parking is available in the plaza but I’m not totally sure if they parking spots right next to them apply to their restaurant. Google maps said it’s part of the “Valley Stores Center Mall” which I didn’t see noted on signage until you drive a little further back to the spots that say “Valley Stores” on them. There are two shopping malls right in that same area it seems, so heads up.
Overall, this handroll bar is solid and I’d definitely go back, plus it’s nice to have more options in SFV!
Seaweed is not roasted/toasted. Temperature of the handrolls at times are cold. The handrolls itself is either too bland or overly salty.
5 rolls
Salmon – bland. I don’t even taste the salmon flavor.
Amberjack – overly seasoned with Yuzu and salt
Spicy tuna – only one thats well balanced and not overly spicy
Yellowtail – all i tasted was sesame oil…
Ume-siso – overly salty
Toro uni don
Uni that was added in this dish is okay. The toro negi is also very bland as well. Can’t really taste the fat/flavor.
The food is okay but for the price, serving size, value not worth it.
The chef that was making the handrolls seems very inexperienced. Some of the rolls he rip the seaweed and just folded it over to hide it and serve.
Service was great! But not a place I would recommend.
