I had lunch at Piccolo Mondo in Southampton and it was such a lovely experience from start to finish. As a vegetarian, I was really pleased with the amount of choice on the menu. It’s always nice when an Italian restaurant goes beyond the basics and Piccolo Mondo definitely does.

I ordered the Penne all’Arrabbiata along with some garlic bread, and both were absolutely delicious. The arrabbiata had a surprising amount of heat, which I personally loved, it had that perfect kick without overpowering the flavour of the sauce. The garlic bread, though, was something special. Fresh, soft, and packed with flavour… honestly one of the best I’ve had in a long time. I’d go back just for that.

The staff were amazing throughout the meal. Everyone was polite, friendly, and genuinely attentive without being intrusive. They struck the right balance of making you feel welcome while also giving you space to enjoy your meal. The food arrived promptly but never felt rushed, which added to the relaxed atmosphere.

Portion sizes were generous too, so I didn’t have any room left for dessert, although the menu looked tempting! Overall, Piccolo Mondo delivered excellent food, great service, and a warm, authentic feel. I’d definitely recommend it, especially if you’re veggie and appreciate good, flavourful Italian dishes.

I can’t fault the food – it was delicious! We were disappointed by the price of drinks, almost £8 for a pint of Poretti is crazy! That was one of the cheaper pints. Even a basic house wine was quite expensive to similar establishments in Southampton. The wine menu doesn’t feature on their website, either. Service was OK. There was one server, doing 20 covers. From being seated to recieving our food was 45 mins. Overall, we enjoyed it but felt the drinks prices were high for Southampton.

Went here for our anniversary dinner and had a wonderful experience. We arrived a few minutes early, but the staff kindly had us wait while our table was prepared, giving us time to browse the menu.

The restaurant itself is small, but it has such a warm, cozy, and homely feel that immediately makes you comfortable.

Service was excellent staff were friendly, attentive, and made sure our water glasses were always topped up. They kept the table tidy throughout the meal, which really added to the experience.

For starters, we shared the mussels in a white wine sauce absolutely delicious. The sauce was creamy, rich, and decadent, while the mussels were cooked perfectly. We also had the burrata, which came with pesto, Parma ham, rocket, and cherry tomatoes. Everything was fresh and the burrata was wonderfully creamy.

For mains, we both went for seafood pasta. The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente, packed with plenty of seafood, and served with fantastic sauces. For the quality and portion size, the price is more than worth it.

To finish, we tried two desserts the panna cotta and crème brûlée. Both were made to perfection: smooth, dreamy, and indulgent.

Overall, it was a lovely evening and a memorable meal. We’ll definitely be returning to try more of the menu.

We got lunch here with kids. The food has been great. We loved the pasta dishes. The kids enjoyed the carbonara and a slightly spicy pasta( forgot the name). The mussels were also good. Pizza is great! The restaurant is a bit small, luckily we were there early.

Beautiful little restaurant, calming environment, relaxed music and phenomenal service.
Friendly staff and attentive but not overly so
Food was out of this world, great Salmon Tagliatelle and garlic bread to share- pictured is the half and served two hungry adults
Coffee was expertly made and really refreshing to get lemon and ice water for the table. An old custom thats great to see come back
Incredibly flavourful food, especially the profiteroles!
A classic restaurant we will be returning to
Would reccomend booking in advance as near the Mayflower theater and very popular after shows. Today (Thursday) fully booked between 5-7pm

The atmosphere was nice (good music and customer service). However, we strongly do not recommend the pizza! It tasted like a frozen one from Tesco or Coop

Clued up on Hluten Free eating – though that did mean no chips, as during busy times their ‘dedicated’ fries fryer is used for other bits and chips also cooked in the other fryer. The food was good, but considering the price didn’t think it was well worthy of the cost. My 10oz sirloin was almost £25 and only came with a salad (as couldn’t have the fries). Also quite cramped, thankfully I was using my crutches as opposed to my walker, otherwise that would have had to be left outside! Good service though and lovely staff.

Our first time at this restaurant and we will look to visit again when in the area. Obviously very popular with those visiting the Mayflower Theatre.
The food was on the highest quality as was the service and atmosphere.
Would recommend making a reservation.

We visited this resturant after a family member said they had been and loved it, we were not disappointed. We managed to reserve online and when we arrived the place was full. There are only around 30ish covers. It’s such a lovely resturant the service is second to none. We felt so welcome.

We had starters and a main each, we will likely do main and dessert next time as some of them looked lovely but we didn’t have any room left!

Nicole and Carmo are wonderful. They are attentive but not too much, happy to explain and talk to you without feeling rushed and it was just such a pleasant experience. This is not a chain restaurant and wow do you feel the difference. The food is made in what feels like the teeniest kitchen but what comes out of there is fresh, tasty and great portion sizes.

We will be back! The front is small, unsuspecting but inside if you step in, you will be transported to a world you wouldn’t have thought possible. Highly recommended.
