Went here for lunch and glad it was too crowded when we arrived. We got the Sweetcorn Cakes as starter. If you love corn then this is good. I really enjoyed the Khao Soi. The soup is a bit sweeter than majority, but I thought it was tasty with medium spice. Loved the noodles and fried wonton skins in the soup. The chicken was so tender, the meat just falls off the bones and it was flavored just right My husband got the Bame Prik Phao and thought it was tasty, filling, and comforting. The portions are huge, which we appreciated! Then we HAD TO try the mango sticky rice. It was like a must-have when I visited Thailand and I was craving it here in SA. The mango was fresh and rice was sticky and sweet, but felt a bit like firm sushi rice. The rice could have been cooked a little longer to be softer, but the overall taste was delicious. We left with full bellies!

Service was friendly and caring. The staff checked on us several times. I liked that they had Mark Wiens eating in Thailand on TV on the wall.

There is no parking on the street of the restaurant. You can park on a side street.

We ordered take away from here and it was absolutely delicious! Lovely customer service, the staff also called me to double check on an allergy request. Highly recommend 🙂

No words to describe the food at Khao hom thai. It’s just perfect. My type of heat and spices. We absolutely love it here.

Prices are so affordable! We ordered the buy one get one free sushi and it was delish. We ordered the special platter and I think it was smoked salmon that was used, so I would recommend if it was indeed smoked salmon that it is just mentioned on the menu that smoked salmon will be used to inform consumers since not everyone likes it. The portion size was good and it looked amazing

We had an extremely disappointing experience at this restaurant and unfortunately it’s not one we’ll forget anytime soon.

From the start, the service was appalling. It took a long time for the waiters to even come to our table to take our order. We specifically requested that our starters be served before our mains, yet this simple request was completely ignored. My main dish arrived first while the rest of my family hadn’t received any of their food. I ended up eating alone for a solid 15 minutes before the other main dishes finally arrived – and we were still waiting for our starters. Shockingly, the starters only came out about 30 minutes later.

The food quality was just as disappointing as the service. The crispy fish was severely overcooked, dry, and completely inedible. It honestly felt as though it had been heavily garnished to disguise how overdone it was. The stir fry noodles tasted undercooked – hard and chewy, as if they hadn’t been properly prepared. The chicken wings were even worse, as they were still cold inside when served.

To make matters worse, the dishes arrived at completely different times, forcing us to eat separately instead of together as a family. The entire experience felt disorganised and careless.

Overall, it was a terrible dining experience. Between the poor quality of food and the chaotic service, there’s unfortunately no way to redeem that visit. We will not be returning.

I must admit I have been following Khao Hom since they opened and wanted to go for a while as people were raving about them. So today finally we went. I decided to book a table because we needed to drive all the way from Kuils River and I was told the restaurant is intimate so I really did not want to get there and there were no tables left. I am glad I did as it was full. I made my reservation on Instagram and it took some time for me to get a reply but I did and everything was sorted.
It was raining and parking is an issue but we were lucky to get off street parking close by.

We ordered starters wontons, springrolls and corn cakes which were all delicious. For mains we ordered the sushi 2for1 platter special which is an awesome constant feature on the menu as well as some noodle and rice dishes and they were all flavourful and made with top ingredients. Their chef clearly understands Thai. The service is not too fast so relax and make time for conversation. They have plenty of drink options and the deserts are delicious! Their prices are very reasonable too. We will absolutely be coming back for more!

Arrived after magrieb just before 9pm, nearly 30mins passed before the starter soup arrived, and to my surprise, with our main meals! I asked the waiter how can you serve our starters together with our main meals, by the time we’re done with our starters, the main dish would be cold! He replied, “you see this(refering to the main dish) took quick quick to make but that(refering to the starter soup) is what took long to come out That’s why It’s coming together”. Trying to hide my frustration, i politely asked if it can please be kept in the kitchen warmer if use have one to which he responded they Don’t. I had to settle for it getting taken back to the kitchen and will be warmed in a microwave when im ready to eat it, keep in mind that I absolutely hate the use of a microwave for health reasons. I eat my food hot from the pot. Not even 10 minutes later i see the waiter bringing my main dish all microwave warmed up, without me requesting it. I told the waiter i Didn’t ask for it yet, my wife and i are still eating the soup? She Then said sorry but our kitchen is closing now That’s why i have to bring it out now because we are also going to close soon. By the time i was done with my soup, the main dish had already gone cold just as i said it would. Barely touched my food and Just asked for a take away bag because i wasn’t going to eat cold food on what was actually a nice chilly summer night with a light drizzle. Left utterly disappointed. To have been rushed to eat cold food is not an experience i am looking forward to again. Goodbye

This is me and my family’s go-to spot for sushi and all things Thai food. Their customer service is always on point and they’re always so happy to assist you. They have the best prices when it comes to sushi (buy 1 get 1 free deals) and the quality is always amazing!

Their noodles are delicious as well and everything is freshly made!

I’ve been to both their Claremont and Diep River branches numerous times and they’re both excellent – the Claremont branch has a more homey, cosy feel to it compared to Diep River, I feel like the Diep River branch is more for takeaways.

Being a regular customer, I’ve never experienced bad service or bad food from them – they’re consistent. They’re fully halal as well – definitely a rare gem in Cape Town!

The food at Khao Home tried thus far has been exceptional. 4 different dishes on the menu plus crispy wantons, spring rolls & sushi. I didn’t want to drop the rating because of the good quality food but service needs a bit of a fine tune. Two people at dinner… One should never get their food too much in advance of the other. One occasion 2-3 minutes were okay, last visit… Dinner partner finished meal by the time mine has arrived due to it being a chef’s special. 10-15 minutes later. The quicker dish should have been made in accordance with this timing. The seating area is minimal & middle row 2 people seats are arkward as walk ins, delivery persons & take out clients all walk & squeeze past to get to the paying counter. Do hope better venue will be in the near future, seems a popular & busy eatery!

Knowing authentic Thai food, I was really disappointed since I thought this would satisfy my craving for some good Thai food. Thai food is about balance but the khao soi and green curry were far too sweet and completely unbalanced, lacking authenticity. Although green curry and tom yum fried rice aren’t the most authentic thought it wouldn’t be hard to mess up. The tom yum fried rice was alright and was bright, punchy. This may suit those who prefer a sweeter, toned-down version of Thai food, but for anyone familiar with real Thai cuisine, it didn’t hit the mark.
