My husband and I had such a great dinner at Brood & Barley last night. We sat outside, though chilly, we loved the relaxed atmosphere.
Our server was amazing, so friendly, personable, and attentive. We started with the Scotch deviled eggs (so good!), then I had the fish and chips and my husband had the Korean barbecue salmon. Everything was cooked perfectly and full of flavor.
We’ll definitely be back!

We kicked things off with espresso martinis and Irish coffee—both were stellar, though the martini definitely stole the show for me.
For dessert, we tried the banana bread pudding, turtle cheesecake, and the sweet potato molasses crème brûlée. That crème brûlée was incredibly smooth and creamy, like an elevated, indulgent twist on sweet potato pie.
Honestly, you can’t go wrong with any of the desserts we ordered—they were all fantastic.

This was my first time, its cheaper to park along the street, the parking lot across the street is at minimum $15.00. Lesson learned.
It a small place and the tables are close together just a warning. But i loved the quaintness of the place. The drink menu was very good and they offer local breweries. I had a cider and it was delicious. I ordered the meatloaf that came with Mac and cheese, very creamy and delicious, and stewed tomatoes which was good not too tart, it was topped with crispy onions. It was delicious and a large amount so I had lunch for work the next day. So full I couldn’t even get desert so sad cause I wanted to try the cookies and milk. Go try them, no disappointment.

What a cute spot with nice atmosphere, may seating options and friendly staff. The fried olives and sweet potato & molasses creme brûlée were the standouts! The soup of the day (butternut squash) was also delicious and was paired with my bunless burger in place of a side for a $4 charge, and it was well worth it. Side note: restrooms are clean and pun-filled for any s in need.

10/25 – There are competing restaurants around, hope Brood & Barley can attract a bit more high end customers with better service & polished/ experienced staff at the bar as well as the table service. I like the restaurant, and willing to pay for it. Best clear ice in town – well done!!. 8/25 – The the bartender in the selection and the many options continues to impress me. Probably one of the best on this trip. (6/2025) update – food, service and reasonable prices continues to make this place good. (Previous review) Good spot for good food at reasonable prices. Drink menu is great! Plenty of options – the bartender & the service team are excellent. Kudos to the management for running a great operation. Will be back soon.

Lunch today was wonderful. We had the Meatloaf sandwich and the Blackened Salmon Salad. The dressing on the salad was amazing and I am not a meatloaf fan, but it was really moist almost creamy texture. We also tried the local Strawberry Rhubarb Cider and it was great. We will definitely try this again for lunch and the dinner menu looked amazing so we will also try dinner where I hear the portions are very nice large sizes. It’s a great restaurant hidden inside a little pub. We also had the best waitress one of the managers, who told us a little back story on the food and the owner and explained some of the dishes. I mean where can you go now days where your server actually takes the time to talk to you. They have a little vibe going with the salt and pepper shakers too ! Give it a try bet you won’t be disappointed.

As visitors to the area we found Brood and Barley while reading reviews and we are so glad that we did!
The rif on a chicken Philly was one of the best sandwiches I’ve had in my entire life! Tender chicken with some spice, a blueberry compote, and fresh basil… sounds like a combo that might not work… it was amazing! I’m going to have to try to recreate this at home.
My husband enjoyed his pastrami sandwich too. The homemade chips were delish…. not greasy at all. The handcrafted cocktails were top notch!
All of this was served in a welcoming atmosphere with a great vibe… check out the salt & pepper shakers.. quirky fun! We’ll be back before our trip is over!

Busy little gastro pub in the middle of NLR. Food was good, I got the Chicken Sammie and the sun kissed cocktail, which was really good. As well as a sweet tea that had a bad aftertaste. My husband got the burger of the month that had pork belly, beef patty, spiced greens and bok choy on it. He also got a beer that he enjoyed. Fries are a $2 up charge. Our server was nice and attentive.

Food is consistently delicious with a variety of unique options. Everything is made in-house and with love! Service is always warm and friendly. Today was my first time trying their pastrami stack and it was amazing!! Taylor (Bartender) shared that the process of making their pastrami takes them 8 days.
