I ordered take out and the food was absolutely delicious. I moved here recently and have been missing the foods I ate growing up. The flavours are truly amazing and reminds me of home. The food was hot and fresh and they have amazing portion sizes for the price. Definitely my new favourite spot and I will be coming back as often as I can! I ordered the beef chow fun, seafood chow fun, mixed veggies, and the Peking duck. I highly recommend this place if you want authentic Chinese food – trust me, I’m Chinese

Oh dear, this was the most disappointing home-delivered meal that we have had in years. The smallish-shrimp were encaved in a thick bready coating; pork-fried rice and special chow mein were mediocre. The shrimps in the chow mein were plump and not mushy, but the 8-inch long strand of black hair cancelled them out too. The sweet-and-sour sauce was brilliant and I saved it for another use. Everything else was either immediately composted or set out to feed the crows. I hate writing negative reviews and thankfully I don’t have to write them often.

Great food, stated with duck, then bean peas with seafood tofu. Chicken and finally Peking pork. Best meal ever.

It was my first time eating there, but I quite liked it! The price for a generous plate of shrimp fried rice was also a huge plus! The hostess was very nice, and honestly I’m hoping to be able to go there again to try more of their stuff next time I’m down in that area.

Golden Horse was probably a great place once. They have good food, but there are many variables that reduce their ability to attract more customers.

Again, the food is good, but when you walk in, there’s no music playing or anything that makes you want you to stay there. It’s quiet and somewhat awkward, when you see the owners sitting in the dining room waiting for customers.

The area of Chinatown has seriously met a bad demise. There are many homeless people and people on drugs lying on the streets in Chinatown.

Their presence is discouraging and unsightly, but they dont do much; they’re just high and out of it.

Be careful coming downtown, and have good food. Take some to go hand out to some of the people down there because they really need it and appreciate your gesture.

Pepper spray and other nonlethal devices are recommended. It’s better to be safe than sorry.

Been coming here for years. Some of the best old-school Chinese takeout in the city, huge portions and delicious food for a cheap price, feels like being back in the 2000’s.

ONE thing I will say, is I would get dine in or take out. I have never in the probably hundreds of times I’ve been here had a bad experience with their dine in or take out, but every time I’ve gotten delivery it has been really quite bad. It’s bizarre honestly, it straight up tastes like it’s from a different restaurant, I have no idea why their delivery is such garbage compared to their really consistent takeout and dine-in, but it genuinely is just lower quality in every way.

That one weird idiosyncrasy aside, it is my favorite Chinese takeout in Portland.

My buddy recommended this place to me. To be honest, I forgot how much I really appreciate Chinese food in general. And eating here helped me remember that. The sweet and sour sauce was actually sour, the fried rice was insane, and the sesame beef was perfect. And for how amazing it is, it’s super affordable. Not to mention the staff are super friendly and efficient. Didn’t even take long to make the food, and they were on top of everything. I would definitely come back again.

Took a party of 7 and we all enjoyed the food very much. Very reasonably priced. The crispy chicken, wor wonton soup, fried rice and chow mean were really good! Highly recommended.

Great food and fast service. We would have tried everything on the menu if not for the inflation and gas prices.

10/10 would recommend the fried rice and honey walnut shrimp.

Their spicy beef dish is not spicy unless you think black pepper is “hot”.

Our go to for Chinese food in the Portland area.

Update 11/11/23 – Dined here on Saturday evening around 6pm. It was not busy at all. The dishes ordered- Ma Pao Tofu, cashew nut chicken (gluten free), crispy noodle chicken chow mein, and pot stickers. Large dishes and plenty for take home leftovers. All great as usual.
