My husband took a rare weekend off just to celebrate my birthday and made reservations on Friday night. Our reservations were for 9:15pm but we decided to go a few minutes early on the off chance we could get seated a little earlier and we figured we’d have drink at the bar if not. We checked in and headed for the bar which was very full but our wait was not too long. I immediately noticed a child at the bar playing with slime with a group of adults which I thought was unusual and probably ill advised but not my business and the bar staff didn’t seem to have an issue with it. After receiving our drinks we went back toward the waiting area and ran into another couple we know who where also there for date night. They did not have reservations and didn’t mind waiting. Our reservation time came and went. Our friends who came in with no reservations were seated well before we were.
Finally an hour after our reservation time we were seated at the corner table closest to the bar. It was a little loud but not a big deal. The waiter came over and took our drink order. After waiting for about 20 minutes my husband finally went to the bar himself to get us some drinks. Of course, that’s when our drinks finally came to the table. As we were looking over the menus, a man headed back to the bar obviously tipsy, knocked right into me where I was seated, without so much as an apology.
The food was ok. It was not the best I had ever had. Honestly for the prices I expected much better. We had been to their sister restaurant Felipe’s (formerly F1) and had the best service and delicious meals, so we had high hopes. Reading the reviews I don’t understand how there is such a disparity between our experience and those who rave about it. I guess it’s the luck of the draw and taste preferences? Anyway, our experience was such a disappointment, we definitely will not be back.
I had a reservation for 6, but we weren’t seated until 6:40. After that it was just continuous waiting. Each time the waiter checked in on us must have been 15 to 30 minutes between each instance. It took a frustrating amount of time for the waiter to come around to take our order. All the wait staff appeared as if they were deliberately ignoring our and other tables. The food took exceptionally long to come out, which was frustrating because I had skipped lunch in anticipation of what should have been a marvelous dinner.
In between asking for the dessert menu, they picked up the plates from the other members of our party, and they weren’t even finished with their food, and they remarked as much, much to the disinterest of the wait staff.
All this could have been ignored if the dessert came out well. I love creme brulees, a lot. I was hesitant to ask for a creme brulee here as the last time I had one at this restaurant, I had asked for one without toppings (implying no fruits or extra things other than the custard and the caramelized sugar) and they only brought the custard without the burnt sugar on top.
This time I was more specific, I asked for one without fruit (which some of which I was allergic to)
…it came with fruit.
Only saving grace was that the manager came out with a creme brulee relatively quickly (implying i didn’t have to wait another 15-20 minutes)
At that point I just wanted to pay the bill and leave as I had checked out
Needless to say, for the price not only do i demand excellence, but I expect it. I go to “fancy” restaurants maybe 3 times a year, so to have one of these dinners be of such low quality, its disappointing.
You step into a warm and elegant ambiance. The attentive staff provided great recommendations.
I enjoyed the spice dusted ribeye which was flavorful. The wine list pairs nicely with the menu.
The butter graham cracker dessert was out of this world and a delightful finish to a delicious meal.
Cowboy Prime exceeded expectations with excellent food and service. A must-visit!
