As a frequent traveler who lives in New York City with access to many top Indian restaurants, I am quite fortunate to be a regular at Taste of India, where authentic dishes are created by natives who are expert in the cuisine.

I start with a cocktail, and my wife and I have had many great ones, which is one of the surprises that awaits you at the restaurant. In the photos, you can see my chocolate martini, replete with chocolate powder, chilled, and a cookie. It’s delicious every time. When I finish it, and I do so rather fast, I am always asked if I want another, yet It’s strong enough that I have to stop at one, since I’m the driver. I’m a lightweight!

I then shift to appetizers, beginning with Nan. I can assert with great confidence that a few if any make it better. I’ve tried nan everywhere and none compare. It’s crispy, it’s hot, it’s buttery, it’s flavorful, there are many flavors to choose from. It’s seasoned perfectly.

Another favorite appetizer — shown here in the photos, is vegetable Samosa. It is always served hot it is sort of an amazing Indian version of a knish. Delicious!

For dinner, I typically get the tandoori chicken, which is hearty, perfectly cooked, and seated on a bed of onions and peppers, served sizzling hot on a skillet. Another version of tabdoori that I get salmon and it’s flavored perfectly, with the fishy taste baked away and seasoned deliciously, served on a skillet rather hot as fish should be.

The dining room feels as you want it to feel at an Indian restaurant, with seating and ornaments that give you all of the feels an Indian restaurant and certainly not a cafeteria as some do.

The staff is genuinely friendly, helpful, attended, and thoughtful. On my latest visit, my waiter, who is always so kind and welcoming, rattled off everything I wanted even before I said it, Because he knows what I like. That he remembers is a great thing isn’t it? Then he suggested a new dish, which you see here in the photos and I loved it, the reshmi chicken, which was tender, juicy, and seasoned perfectly.

Taste of India is my go-to for Indian cuisine, and I hit pay dirt having it just blocks from me.

Had a 60th birthday lunch party for my husband, there were 35 people including children. The setup, buffet and service was excellent. The appetizers, followed by lunch and dessert was excellent too. Everyone loved it. The ambience was great, we added our own little decorations and brought our own cake. The owner Mr Raman, the manager and the staff were very good, they served us well.

This is probably the best Indian food in the area! A bit pricey, but I guess you pay for whatever you get.

I visited on a Saturday night and was surprised it wasn’t busier, as the decor is very nice and modern. The food was a bit of a mixed bag. The Naan was excellent—perfectly crispy and fluffy. Both the Chicken Tikka Masala and Chicken Vindaloo were delicious; the chicken was incredibly tender and the spice levels were just right.

However, there were several disappointments. The Samosa appetizer only comes with two pieces (not mentioned on the menu) and they were mushy inside. Additionally, the portions for the mains were small—not much chicken and very little rice.
The biggest issue was the atmosphere. It was already very hot inside, and they kept running the heater directly over us, which made eating spicy food quite uncomfortable.

Also, be aware they charge a surcharge for credit cards. I’d likely give it another try for the flavors, but I hope they improve the portions and climate control.

Taste of India II is probably my favorite place to eat on Staten Island. They have a ton of vegan options, everything is delicious and flavorful, and the service is top notch. I come here for a lot of special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries, and family outings. I highly recommend it!

At first this restaurant was good but failed after I was given undercooked chicken. I brought it to the servers’ attention and offered to replace it with something else. On my visits there I would try something different but the undercooked chicken was not handled in a proper manner. The server told me ” In future ask for it well done” . I asked to speak to the manager/owner but he was not available. A few days later I spoke with him and he too said” order it well done”. I was also reprimanded by him as he told me that ” I was the only one complaining about the food”. I was met with many excuses and gibberish as to why they couldn’t cook chicken properly.
Thank you for replying to my review but unfortunately part of it is inaccurate. The dish wasn’t replaced as you stated. It was returned to the kitchen to cook further and arrived back to the table with 1/4” slits on the pieces of chicken. It was still not cooked properly after attempting to rectify the situation.
