Edit: To the owner, or whoever replies to these,
I have read your response to my review, as well as others, and what, are you five? Anytime someone says something on here that you disagree with, you come up with some strawman about why they are wrong, why their opinion is invalid, or why they have no idea what they are talking about. That’s so juvenile. My father is a professionally trained chef with a specialty in Italian cuisine, and I am well aware of what good food tastes like. I grew up eating it.
Just because someone dislikes something about your restaurant doesn’t mean that they are inherently wrong, you just don’t know how to accept criticism in any way, shape, or form. Do better.
This a restaurant I had made note of for a potential dinner stop on our two night weekend trip in Boone. But I admit that the night we ate here it was our 3rd stop, because everywhere we went was super busy. The hostess here was very nice and said sorry its a 45 min wait, but we didn’t want to try anywhere else. So we put our name and number down and shopped at Walmart.
We had garlic knots, kids pasta, chicken cacciatore, caesar salad, stuffed cabbage soup, and linguine carbonara. The serving sizes are exceptional, and everything represented a good example of American style italian. I dont mind that the ambiance or decor is nothing special, because you will leave fully satisfied with leftovers.
Great service too.
I recommend the lasagna. The star of the show, in opinion, are the garlic knots. I’m generally not a big garlic knot fan, but these are large, soft, and flavorful. Delicious!
The service is also very good and the atmosphere is cozy.
Overall, I highly recommend Bocca Bistro, especially for lunch.
This was our first time dining here, and we came as a family of five. No one informed us that the portion sizes were extremely large, so we ordered assuming standard portions and ended up ordering far more food than necessary. While the pasta and soup were very good, the pizza we ordered was far too spicy for both adults and children.
When we mentioned this and asked if the pizza could be removed or adjusted, someone approached us who did not introduce themselves and stated that the pizza was meant to be spicy because it was labeled “hot honey.” We did not realize that this description would indicate such a high level of spiciness, especially since honey is typically associated with sweetness rather than heat. To their credit, the restaurant did agree to replace the pizza so we could at least take home something edible. However, it was replaced with a medium pizza even though we had paid for an extra-large. (We did not take the pizza that was too spicy as it was not something our kids could eat or us) .
Additionally, we were not informed that bread was complimentary, which again comes back to communication. Overall, the food quality was good, but clearer explanations about portion sizes that it could be shareable so we wouldn’t order too much of pasta but instead try something else, menu items, and inclusions would have made a big difference in our experience.
We simply wish there had been better communication throughout our visit and hope this feedback is helpful.
P.S we did read the menu I never said I wasn’t expecting side.. I said the pasta comes in giant bowl that could be shared with others and wish that would’ve been clarified and mentioned by the staff so people wouldn’t order many items thinking it’s regular size .. just trying to help other families who will dine in in this place so they won’t make the same mistake.
January 2025: Took the family for dinner and was pleasantly surprised to find this diamond in the rough (i.e. in a strip mall). Authentic Italian American fare and service. If you’re in a rush then let your server know. Otherwise, expect an Italian dinner experience where you come, you sit, you talk, and you enjoy the company you’re with and the venue you’re in. The owner / chef might pass by to say hello and check in on you as well. See comments in the pics but the food was delicious, the portions ridiculously huge that each plate had a take home box. Price is quite fair for the large portions. Friendly atmosphere and service. This is in my favorites for the next time we visit Boone. And if you’re a Bills fan you’ll be right at home.
