Just a note, order ahead or get there before they open. I was there at ten after and by the time I got inside they were sold out of about half of the items
The texture of the pastries was perfection!
So good! With a small exception.
Some how two of our sweet pastries had a fairly noticeable hint of everything bagels seasoning or garlic or something. It was unfortunate.

Such a busy little place! We are so thankful we ordered ahead.
The morning bun was out of this world. Crisp, moist, and not too sweet. This was my favorite.
The cardamom bun was a close second, but could have used a bit more spice for me. I’m sure most prefer it in the sweeter side.
My husband got an almond croissant that he loved as well.

I have not had the pleasure of visiting The Place in Maine but I did have the opportunity to enjoy Chelsea’s baked goods at her Long Island location, Flourish. Her baked goods were easily the best I have ever had! Maine is a lucky state!

We tried a few things and it was all way too greasy. The greens and cheese was alright, just so greasy. The almond croissant was disgusting and we tossed half of it. The filling was overly sweet and oozing out. It also lacked any almond flavor and definitely wasn’t the right consistency. Also greasy. Finally we tried the kouign Amana which would have been decent if it wasn’t so greasy.
The coffee was bad. The iced tea was fine, but doesn’t come with ice, so, why bother?

This is a tiny jewel of a bakery with excellent baked goods. They only open Friday through Sunday 9-12 or until they run out, so come early. We tried the croissants – plain, almond, and hamd&cheese. All were excellent. We also bought a cinnamon babka and it was unique, not like other babka we had tasted in Philadelphia. The babka had nice cruse with soft interior. It’s a bit hard yo find even though it’s right on Elm St in Camden. There are a few parking spots behind the shop.

This review is superfluous because it seems as if everyone has already captured the perfection of The Place Bakery. My only fear is that one will drive by it as it is somewhat hidden from the road. But the pastries are sublime, crumble , crunch, melt in your mouth delights . The sweetness ratio reminds me of the best I ever had in France ( re: pan au chocolates, almond croissants, cookies …) . The breads , again, are that impossible to achieve balance of external crunch , moist interior with air/butter pockets surprising each bite. Yes, I said “moist” . So sue me.

Wow! Easy to find. Great Maine establishment. Outstanding service. I ordered several types of croissants, bagels, cookies, bread pudding and a chicken pot pie ahead of time online. My order was ready when I arrived to pick it up. I was pleasantly greeted. The baked goods were very fresh, delicious and priced appropriately.
