I’ve been to this place several times over the past few weeks and never had an issue until today. I stopped by after work and bought a shingara and dim chop as a light snack. To my disgust, I found a hair inside the shingara.
When I showed it to the owner (the man in the picture), his response was shockingly rude and unprofessional. Instead of apologizing, he snatched the shingara out of my hand, threw it in the trash, and insisted it was “ginger,” not hair. I remained calm and simply asked for a replacement, but he kept arguing and trying to prove me wrong instead of taking responsibility.
After I showed him the photo I took, he finally admitted it was hair but tried to excuse it by saying they don’t have any female workers there as if that made it any better. I told him I wasn’t looking for an argument, just basic respect and accountability for what I paid for.
I wasn’t looking for a fight, just honesty and basic respect. Instead, I got denial, disrespect, and zero accountability from the owner himself. That says a lot about how this restaurant operates behind the counter.
This was my last visit, and I’ll be making sure my friends, family, and community know exactly what happened. I also plan to report this incident to the health department because if this is how they handle food hygiene and customer concerns, it seriously needs to be investigated.
A simple “sorry” would’ve been enough. Instead, I got arrogance and attitude. Completely unacceptable.

Awesome and delicious Indian food place in the heart of buffalo. It is a must visit place for authentic indian food, the chicken-lamb mixed gyros, samosa, shingara, rice with fish, mango lassi, chicken patties are so good. Especially, I would highly recommend to try their chicken fry and malai tea, you’ll not regret experiencing the place. The hospitality is good and you’ll enjoy the hustling and bustling vibe of the place.

I’ve been to Bay Leaf a couple times and each time the food is very good, the staff are nice and helpful and the chai is so good!
This time I got the chicken over rice with a veggie samosa and chicken samosa (all are pictured). The chicken is packed with flavor and has a mild-medium heat level and the rice is cooked well, not sticky. The samosas are fresh and I liked the veggie best.
The portions are generous, the chicken over rice was split between two of us for lunch and we were full. Service was a little slow,, maybe think about calling ahead to order, but I would definitely recommend and go again!

I ordered beef biryani and beef curry from DoorDash, but the app indicated that the biryani is served with lettuce and tomato. When I tried to confirm with the restaurant that I didn’t want the fried onions, lettuce, or tomato on my biryani, I want on the side lettuce and tomato.I spoke with a woman who was very rude. She told me that lettuce and tomato doesn’t come with that biryani whether it says on dordash if I wanted, she could add some lettuce and tomato, even though they didn’t include anything in my order. I specifically requested no fried onions on my biryani, they still added fried onions, and they didn’t provide any lettuce or tomato, despite what the app showed.

Best mutton curry. Exactly the same like you get in India. Don’t miss out on it if you want to try authentic Indian food. The quantity is also great. Ordered some rice and Naan on the side. Also tried the kebabs.

Order chicken biryani based on reviews not at all close to authentic biryani flavour. Just a regular flavoured rice boneless chicken pieces like boiled and sprinkled on top with fried onions. Not worth a try person from southern india who tasted many flavours across canada and USA besides in Hyderabad,india this is no where close to any of those i have tried so far.

While women work there they provides great services. With a large smile and give salad, ketchup everything. But all men work there rude, mannerless and also when we buy something doesn’t give tissue, salad, ketchup. Also if you ask they show their mannerless behavior.
