My father and I are traveling up to Washington and were looking for a little mom and pop spot for a hearty breakfast, and this place really delivered!
We got the eggs with bacon, and eggs with sausage links, and both were large portions, more than we could finish. The eggs were cooked perfectly, biscuits were large and buttery, and the bacon was thick cut and perfectly cooked.
They even have gluten free options (white bread, cornbread, and pancake) every day, but I didn’t ask until after our meal was over, so I didn’t try any of it.
All of the servers were very attentive, whether it was their own section to serve or not, the food came out quick, got, and just to order.
All in all, definitely a great place to stop, and worth a repeat meal!
I went with company and ordered my usual: chicken-fried steak with two over-medium eggs on top. Everything was made from scratch, and it may have been the best version of this dish I’ve ever had. The gravy was perfect, with tiny pieces of sausage, and the chicken-fried steak was hand-breaded and cooked just right.
My friend ordered a picture-perfect omelet and cornbread, the cornbread having a beautiful, crispy crust. I tried it, and as someone who makes cornbread myself, I can confidently say I couldn’t make it any better. I mentioned this to our waitress—let’s call her T—and she smiled and said it’s a secret recipe, but confirmed that everything is made from scratch.
Even the black coffee stood out. It was noticeably better than the standard diner cup.
Every waitress we encountered, including our own, was well trained, professional, and attentive. This is exactly what I want in a restaurant experience. I’m always happy when a place exceeds my expectations, and Country Kitchen absolutely did.
Highly recommended.
I ordered the pancake sandwich, which came with nothing on it (kind of misleading) but my server Amber explained that it’s just what it is on the menu. Overall great service from Amber, and the male host was kind as well. (He greeted me with a smile and seated me right away). There are a few girls in the kitchen who were not really doing much. I asked one of them for a bag and box, but she never came back. It turned out being Amber who helped me the whole time! Thank you, Amber! 🙂 I ordered whipped cream, strawberries, and bananas to add on to my “sandwich”. Love this place!
Service: The lady that brought us to the table was nice but we didn’t like being put in the back corner next to the bathrooms. The lady that grabbed our check has the audacity to say our daughter was having an attitude for not coloring her crayon picture in and for being shy.
The atmosphere: Looked ok from the outside, dim, sad, and run down on the inside. The seating was bad, one of the least comfortable chairs I’ve sat in, basically a hard bench with a flimsy panel backrest. Maybe the mismatched low quality plates, uncomfortable seating, and bad lighting is the aesthetic the owner is going for but we were not impressed.
Won’t be coming back here, do not recommend.
I understand that restaurants can get busy, but being overlooked that many times is hard to ignore.
We ended up leaving before ordering. I hope this was just an off day, but based on our experience, I can’t recommend this location for attentive service.
Food is freshly made with homemade items and large portion sizes.
Extremely friendly staff, food arrived quickly.
Couldn’t leave without getting one of the huge cinnamon rolls to go.
Next time we are on I-5 heading southbound we will definitely make the stop at County Kitchen.
