I met a friend for lunch today at La Basil Thai Cuisine, where Mama Rosa’s used to be up here in Ramona. I got the Panang curry and my friend got the Pad Thai. Both were excellent. Definitely going back. They recommended their pineapple fried rice, and I’m going to try that next time.
I didn’t specify a spice level, and was impressed that they nailed it right in my comfort zone. I like a bit of heat, but it wasn’t uncomfortable.

I absolutely love this place! Food is amazing and the restaurant itself is SOOO CUTE! It has these unique separated rooms which make the experience so cozy. I love all the decor inside; they did such a good job w all the finishes. Plus they have a beautiful outdoor patio as well .

We tried the Panang and Green Curry and both orders were good. Service was likewise good and we appreciated the ambiance as it’s quiet.
The concern however is the small portion compared to other Thai restaurant also in Ramona, which was big (pricing is almost the same), no wonder it’s popular and busy. My husband also observed that food we ordered from LA Basil weren’t that hot.

Friendly and attentive service. We ordered the Sampler Appetizer which was really good. I had the Chicken Pad Thai and my wife had the Garlic Pepper Rice Bowl. Nice to have another option for dinner in Ramona.

The interior is very calm and inviting. Service is always excellent. I’m a picky eater so I’ve only eaten a few chicken items. The specialty chicken teriyaki is top notch. The Tom Kha soup is the BEST I’ve ever had.

This is a real gem tucked away in an unlikely spot on D Street. The name “La Basil” also seems a bit unlikely for a Thai restaurant. Once you enter, you’re impressed with the various rooms available, often providing the chance to dine in private. The decor is fresh and charming. There’s also an outdoor patio that looks inviting.
The staff members are polite, friendly, and willing to accommodate any special requests. The generous portions of food are absolutely delicious. Prices are in line with other nice restaurants.
