Had a quick slice of pizza it was hot and semi fresh. It wasn’t anything special but it did the job. The atmosphere was about the same nothing special. I did enjoy watching the busy street outside thru the huge windows while I ate.

This place is the truth. A burrito so phenomenal it’s almost a religious experience. When your friends are among loud music or debating the next move, get a moment of silent respite with several bites of needed grub

A decent quesadilla, pretty generous with the filling of steak and prawns. Portion is fairly large, you get two long rolls, which could be enough for two to share, as it is very filling. I think they deserve higher than their current 3.9-star rating, so thought to do this review. The service was similar to what others have said, which actually kind of adds to the experience.

Perfect for what it is. A late night eat with burritos and next to us is a pizza place and chicken tenders. Highly reccomend. Thus California burrito is A+. That’s the burrito with fries. If you want something more authentic they have those too. But a California burrito at 2am hits perfect

In town for the NBA All-Star weekend & mostly ate at the events but had heard about this place all throughout social media so wanted to give it a try during the late night regardless of the reviews. Ordered takeout & got the beyond super burrito with a spinach tortilla & the mushroom quesadilla. The beyond burrito was delicious! It was a bit sloppy with pieces of filling sticking out of the burrito but was flavor in every bite. You also don’t feel gross or heavy after. The mushroom quesadilla was good but there were more bell peppers & onions vs mushrooms in it. Was a bit bland on its own but nothing some hot sauce can’t fix. They have a lot of options for vegetarian & vegans. Had no issues with our delivery order & had only vegetarian food but afterwards I did see the other reviews about potential health violations.

Love this place for Mexican breakfast lunch or dinner! They are open early and serve breakfast burritos all day! Yum! My favorite is dinner and dessert! Any of their dinner plates are good and burritos with carne asada or carnitas are great! I love the chicken flautas and have been going back and forth between that and a plain cheese quesadilla.
My most favorite food item is their to die for cream filled churros! Soo good right after they are made. They can be really hot but as with most food the sooner you eat it the better because I’m telling you they are like heaven sticks lightly filled with a vanilla cream.
El Capitans Churros are amazing.. I mean.. Soo Good!
I have never tried churros that were filled with a light cream! Best part is that those yummy cinnamon sugary churros are also cheap and the people are all nice and work very hard.
I respect smaller family businesses. EL Capitan Taqueria is also affordable for the most people and their prices are very very fair. Especially compared to Carl’s Junior or Denny’s which is waaay overpriced but
Very reasonable for San Franciscos Best!
Great Fajitas that feed 2 people! I recommend getting one extra scoop of meat and one extra tortilla if sharing the fajitas.
On a budget? I know the feeling. One of my go-tos is the Cheese Quesadilla and the Churros are my happiness! Also even if if your order is pick up or to go please tip the person try and dip the nice women there and the cooks are great too! They work very well together and they work long hard hours. I give them a lot of credit especially on the weekend! Also if you eat inside be sure to tip and they will usually give you chips and salsa with your order whether you stay there or not (usually chips and salsa are on the house with the purchase of a meal or items off the menu.
I have had a lot of Mexican Food including taco trucks in the California Central Valley down South in Palm Springs.
El Capitan is a winner in my book for Mexican restaurants in the BAY Area. I have not had anything at the restaurant Tortillas and Fresh Meat and Fresh Produce. I will have to say that while in the BAY AREA which I am born and raised let me tell you, El Capitan Taqueria is my one of my very favorites! I appreciated them all much when I lived in the city and still go there on weekends or after a night out. Take Care and I highly recommend this Restaurant. Love the food and great employees and great chefs too! Thanks El Capitan See u Soon for Churros and Oh yes, they make agua frescas and they have strawberry and they have a horchata that they make from scratch too, they also have Jarritos! Must try and If someone isn’t in the mood for Mexican, they have a pizza shop connected to it on the Folsom side. El Capitan is on the corner of Folsom and 8th Street and I hope you get to try their amazing food
, Drinks and dessert if you haven’t already. Thanks again to all the owners, employees chefs, front desk/cashier girls that are fast moving on the weekends and peak times. Just like the chef will be going Soo fast with all the door dash and after hour crowd. If possible go in the afternoon when it isn’t busy and crazy!Only advice is they get super busy Thursday-Saturday nights especially last two or three hours. Best time to go is about 2 or 2:30PM in the afternoon for weekends and weekdays and all the Frescas will be muy fresh and thr Horchata will be fresher. Also they aren’t Soo crazy busy and they have seating inside and outside. Can dine in and carry out. This restaurant is also sanitary and employees are clean with hair net, masks and gloves. Thanks and see you sooner than you think…. More pics to come 🙂 -Annie

Please eat here!! 10 out of 10 ambiance and great food, especially if you’re seeking barbecue Mexican fusion. I shared with my brother a BBQ chicken burrito from when I ordered on Saturday night… And he loved it so much, that he drove us back on Sunday for another LOL (๑•﹏•) Ty!!!

Mixed experiences with flavor here but above average with a nice salsa bar. Their salsa verde is lovely! Super tacos are 6$ a pop and stuffed to the tee but lacking a bit in flavor. Probably will go back purely for the salsa and to try something other than a super taco! One of our tacos was incorrect – chicken was given instead of beef. Still decent but not what we ordered.

Sorry to say, but this place did not meet the lowest of my expectations. Living in SF, I’ve experienced a few bad Mexican food spots, and this is one. Food is super bland. The place stinks, it’s a bit dirty, and a little more run down than most spots. The staff were super friendly, but the food just didn’t cut it. As a Mexicano, I thought the food was made for non-Mexicans and I’d rather have Taco Bell.

Even the horchata was gross.
Everything looked pretty though.

Delicious, Authentic, the best Wet Burritos on Folsom Street in San Francisco. Special nacho nights on Wednesday next to Cat Club Night Club. Fabulous dishes after going dancing.
