A true hidden gem! Mariscos Los Koritas has amazing Mexican seafood, fresh, flavorful, and authentic. Everything we ordered was delicious and the service was great.

Also, their jumbo margaritas are truly JUMBO, definitely worth it.

The only reason I’m giving 3 stars for atmosphere is because the space feels a bit outdated for the price point. That said, the food and drinks absolutely make up for it, and I’d still highly recommend checking this place out.

Definitely hidden amongst a humble neighborhood that does not help its curb appearance is this seafood haven. Wow! If you like seafood and not traditional Mexican food, this is the spot! Could they have some steak tacos on the menu to help drive more people there… absolutely. But what they do is incredible. Flavor is spot on. Service is very hospitable and friendly. You can tell they have some pride in what they are serving, and it’s not just a sloppy mess. The free appetizer at the beginning is fantastic. Will definitely make a trip here again when I’m in the area!

Fresh, fresh, fresh! The special oysters were fantastic- Fresh shucked oysters topped with chopped octopus, shrimp, onion, and cilantro and limes – so good! Spicy octopus was tender and delicious with the perfect balance of seasonings not mouth hot. The red snapper was tasty and easy to eat. Our plates were so full- mix of quality and quantity! Ceviche was muy bueno. And a giant 32oz margarita! A gem that should be packed nightly. Staff was attentive and helped us order. Acapulco natives so they know their seafood!

You walk in and it looks like every other Mexican taco place but it’s not. The food is flavorful and delicious. They have a wide seelction of seafood and many different flavors that you can have it prepared in. Their drink service leaves a lot to be desired, as it’s served in bottles and cans, including water and soda. It’s a new restaurant so hopefully it grows. The server was attentive and efficient. Overall it was a good first experience.

Food was fresh and amazing! The price seems high until you see the portions! They are awesome, amazingly happy and will make this a stop when traveling through.

I was excited to try this new restaurant and went for an early dinner. I was the only diner for most of my meal. As I walked in, the chef was sitting at a table in the dining room and the server was staring at her phone.

Though the menu listed cervaza, I was told it was not available. I always say that a meal without wine or beer is breakfast…so disappointed (especially since you walk past a bar to get to the dining room).

I ordered the shrimp empanadas as an appetizer, which were delivered quickly. There were four of them, so it’s definitely something to share. They were steaming hot. Not a huge flavor bomb.

Here is where I rant. I absolutely hate it when my main course comes before I finish my appetizer, and in this case, the main course came after one empanada.

I had the spicy garlic shrimp (see image below). The portion size was huge. Fries, very good. Rice was very flavorful, but luke warm (maybe it was meant to be?). The salad was undressed, but refreshing. The spicy garlic shrimp was bland. I could not detect any garlic, and it was not spicy at all. The most disappointing aspect was that the shrimp was not deveined.. They were small shrimp, but they all had visible noticeable digestive tracts, resulting in gritty shrimp. I understand that deveining small shrimp is tedious, but when the menu features more that a dozen shrimp dishes, you need to pay attention to details.

After serving my dishes, the server plopped back down in her chair and resumed using the phone.

Usually at this price point ($35) if the food is substandard, I cross the place off my list. In this case, I will go back after they have been open for a while and try it again, but I will not order shrimp.

Our first time here and the ceviche fish was fantastic. We had that instead of salsa. Huge portions, our waiter was super nice and helped us decide with all the options and average pricing

FOODIE?? THIS IS Not your typical Mexican restaurant, so different.. seafood Mexican but they do serve Carne Asada. We went early & had the place to ourselves, & got to talk to the owners & waitress. owners are from near Puerto Vallerta & have brought their tropical cuisine to the Illinois Valley. Only thing missing was margaritas & a beach!! They are in the process of getting the liquor license. ! Jim got the huge fish tacos & I got the stuffed pineapple.. shrimp, crab, mussels, octopus. Instead of chips n salsa starter they give you corn tostadas with fish cerviche. WILL BE BACK
