We explored Cape Charles and decided to eat here. We sat at an outside table by the window, right next to a windowsill that was disgustingly dirty and covered with dead bugs. The outdoor seating was very loud due to a vent nearby that had something stuck in it, causing a lot of noise.
The service was friendly but very busy, they forgot our utensils and napkins, and it took a bit too long to get them. The pizza was okay. I expected a bit more, especially since the restaurant was full and busy, and the dough homemade. My cheese pizza crust tasted more like flatbread, and the calamari had more breading than actual calamari.

We were tired and hungry after driving from Chincoteague on way home from vacation. Popped in around 7 on Sunday. Hostess immediately greeted us and seated us at a nice table. Took our drink orders and app order. Food arrived immediately hot and delicious. She followed up with our meal orders and checked on us regularly.
Got dessert to go and she offered to fill out tea so we could take to go. Very cute atmosphere and pizza from another table looked amazing. Highly recommend and will return!

We fell in love with this place! Highly recommend the chicken piccata, the crab pasta with squid ink, their pizzas, and their espresso martinis! We actually got the pizza to go to have for lunch on Sunday and it was sooo good even reheated in the oven! This place has one of the best espresso martinis we’ve ever had! We went two nights in a row for them! The staff is amazing and super friendly, highly recommend!!

Fantastic pizza! Thin, floppy, just enough grease, NY Style pizza. Exactly what I imagine when I think pizza. And they don’t skimp on the pepperoni. Don’t forget the breadsticks. Garlic, oil, and two types of cheese. Perfect.
Can’t comment on the atmosphere as I had a to-go order.

Very good food and service, but we did wait an hour for our food to come on a Wednesday evening during 4th of July week. They were also very accommodating for small adjustments to our orders.

This gem in Cape Charles has some of the best white pizza I’ve ever had. The crust was thinking and delicious. I ordered the White Sale and was delighted to see that I could add additional items for a small fee. I had a Ceasar salad which was fresh and the dressing was just incredible. I also appreciated the smaller size croutons which complimented the Romaine. Our waitress was attentive and friendly and our food was served at appropriate intervals. I want to return for their fresh pasta which isn’t served until 4 p.m.

I got a takeout pizza pretty late in their day. It made it home and was great the next morning for breakfast and lunch as well. I would love to go back and eat on the nice looking patio. The host was great and my food came out exactly when they said it would.

What’s not to love about this coastal pizza restaurant? The kind of place you walk in to after a long day of relaxing at the beach, where the atmosphere laid-back and inviting, with an easygoing vibe. A place where the food is good and the staff feels familiar and friendly. If this sounds like your kind of restaurant, then you’re in luck because this is exactly what you’ll find at Deadrise Italian Kitchen. We love this place and eat here (at least once) anytime we’re in Cape Charles. In addition to great pizza, this restaurant serves other Italian dishes that are equally delicious! It’s family friend, but also great for date night.

The restaurant has a coastal Bohemian decor that compliments its natural Cape Charles surrounding with light walls, natural materials and plants. The smart layout means they can accommodate intimate parties or large gatherings with ease. I especially like the bench seating that spans the length of one of the walls, with throw pillows for added comfort and aesthetics. Some of the high tables are located fairly close to the kitchen and prep station. On one visit we were seated in this area, and at first I thought it would be a drawback. Nothing could’ve been further from the truth! It turned out to be a real treat. Not only did we get to interact with more staff members, but we got a bird’s eye view to where the magic happens! The gas range is situated near enough that we could watch the huge pots and sauce pans brimming with delectable dishes. We saw the kitchen staff prepping fresh greens and getting orders prepared for pick-up by the servers. It was really cool to watch them actually cook the food, not just warm it up. Just in case you’d rather dine al fresco, Deadrise offers patio seating as well. It’s located at the front of the restaurant and is generously shaded.

Another really cool design feature is the restroom area. This isn’t an area that usually gets high praise in my reviews, but their design is so well thought out, I would be remiss if I didn’t write about it. The layout features two generously-sized water closets (WC) on either side of a huge sink area. This work so well, especially if all one needs to do is wash their hands.

Now, about the food! It is deliciously made with fresh ingredients. So far we’ve sampled the Caesar salad, Chicken Parmigiana, Deadrise Margherita Pizza (with pepperoni, mushrooms and black olives added), the Pound Netter Pizza, Tiramisu and Crème Brûlée. We have enjoyed it all! The brick-oven style pizza has a thin crust (made from organic pizza dough) and the Margherita sauce tastes fresh, tangy and sweet. The pepperonis and sausage are savory, but not overly greasy. And when it comes to the Parmesan cheese, they use the GOOD stuff! The salads are crisp and delicious and large enough to share. The dressing on the Caesar salad includes lemon, for a bit of a twist. It really works, and I wish they’d bottle and sell it! The desserts are equally divine. The crème brûlée is creamy and sweet with a great crunch on the top. The tiramisu has a rich coffee flavor and is made with coffee from a local company. We’ve walked away from every meal feeling full and satisfied. This place feeds the soul as well as the appetite; so if you’re ever in Cape Charles, VA, I hope you find your way to Deadrise Italian Kitchen.

We couldn’t be more thankful for Deadrise. My husband and I had our wedding on the Eastern Shore this October and unfortunately we had an issue with catering and found out moments before the ceremony. Within the time it took for our ceremony and photos (~1hr) Deadrise got 60 pizzas and salads done for our wedding of 100 people. The food was delicious and we’d recommend them to everyone. They saved the day and were amazing. What a wonderful place and group of people that work there! We will be back to dine in soon. We are so thankful for Deadrise!
