This place is a seafood lover’s dream! You can pick out your own fresh fish and seafood to take home, or sit down and enjoy a meal right there in the restaurant. Everything was incredibly fresh, with generous portions and very reasonable prices. The sides were just as good as the main dishes, and the shrimp wrapped in bacon and crab meat was absolutely delicious. A great spot for both dining in and bringing home top-quality seafood—I’ll definitely be back!

I have driven past MANY times, with plans to eat here on my way back, but somehow I always end up coming back too late. I’m glad that I followed the recommendation of a friend.
* Walk in & go past the counter around the backside of the counter is where they take your order. They will give you a pager and buzz you when your food is ready you see yourself. However, you can sit at the bar and the bartenders will serve you and get your food for you

If you’re ever in Barco, North Carolina, you have to stop by Frog Island Seafood! This place is a hidden gem with some of the best seafood I’ve ever had.
The shrimp tacos were absolutely delicious fresh, perfectly seasoned shrimp with just the right balance of flavors. Every bite was packed with goodness! The corn nuggets were crispy on the outside, soft and sweet on the inside, and downright addictive. And the alligator bites? Tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection definitely a must-try!
On top of the incredible food, the customer service was top-notch. Ty went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. Friendly, attentive, and full of great recommendations. She made the experience even better!

We hit on this on our way to our destination. We were looking for casual and quick but also unique and local. This place has counter service and seat yourself. We saw the taco Tuesdays on the listing and that made it our choice. We each had one of each kind of taco- fish, shrimp, oyster, soft shell crab for under $10 a person. And they were all delicious. We were in and out and on our way having had a very satisfying and delicious light lunch and a unique local experience.

This local restaurant was recommended by one of the staff at the Virginia border welcome center. She said that the seafood is amazing. iI is not fine dining but it is the best fried fish in town”… and it was. When you enter you will go to the cash register, get a menu, order what you want. Then go choose a table to sit. They will give you a vibrating thing to let u know your food is ready for pick up. It was delicious! I felt I was in the country of the Deep South. I live that southern accent y’all!

Really good prices for their seafood. We tried the frog legs, mahi basket special, catfish sandwich, she crab soup, fried okra, hush puppies and green beans. Everything was really fresh, however the catfish and the frog legs lacked seasoning. The green beans were obviously from a can. The highlights were the soup, the hush puppies (really, really good hush puppies) and the fried okra. Overall an average little place, with some more flavor to their food this could be excellent, especially since they already have the fresh products and competitive prices.

We had been passing this place several times and decided to give lunch a try. The atmosphere and service were great. The things we ordered were ehh. I got the oyster po boy, and she crab soup. He got pork sandwiches. The pork was nice. Not vinegar based, it seemed. Good flavor. The po boy was not a po boy it was about 6 small oysters on a hamburger bun. Oysters tasted good. Salt, pepper, and mayo enhanced to flavor. The she crab soup..ehh. almost flavorless. Salt, pepper, and a crumbled cracker helped. Quite a few crab shells was but hey, maybe they cracked the crabs themselves?
My bottom line with places to eat is always, would I come back and give it another try. For this one, my answer is yeah, I’d give it another try. If I’m in the area. Would I drive the 30 minutes to go there, maybe not. If I do, I will try something different.

Eat in, carry out, or buy fresh. You won’t find much better prices than this. The prepared food is quite good. The staff is kind, seating is comfortable, restrooms are satisfactory.

Excellent no frills casual seafood restaurant, market, and bar. Order at the counter and sit down, and the buzzer they give you will vibrate when your order is ready to pick up at the window. We had Crab Cakes – delicious and flavorful with the onions and peppers but not packed with filler. Fried Okra actually had taste to it. Corn Nuggets were tasty and fried nicely. Steamed Clams – hot, plump, and tasty served with butter. Rockfish tacos and shrimp tacos (Tues. Special) – flavorful, freshly fried, and topped with fresh pico de gallo. Booths were comfortable. Very friendly staff. Fresh seafood market looked enticing. This is our second time being here and it’s a great stop either entering in or exiting North from the OBX… TRUCK PARKING TOO!!
