Good: Host was nice, and server was fine. Bathroom was okay.
Bad:
Not vented properly. Another table burned their food 15 mins after being seated, and we had to smell it for the rest of our meal
We got 2 items that we didn’t order, portions were too big or too small — Pitifully small portions of noodles and an oddly large portion of tripe (about a cup).
Server didn’t know which items were which. Frustrating, but understandable, given the people employed are probably underpaid and overworked with large menu options.
The food is not great. “Vegetable tempura” (pictured) is more like cold fried tofu with tiny bits of random veggies. Not bad, but not as advertised.
Never been to a Korean place where I didn’t at like the kimchi. Overly sweet and bland. The cucumber salad is cut wrong — they’re supposed to be thinly sliced. Also seasoned more like Japanese cucumber salad, but with too much sesame oil.
However, it’s the food safety issues that’s the most alarming. Cooked and raw meats together, bamboo reeking of fish (probably a storage issue).
Umi shabu shabu only offered hotpot and ordered by the server but the server is very responsive and quick to serve up the food compared to kpot. Not to mentioned cheaper.
After convincing all 10 of our party to do the combo we realized the soup/bbq would double our cook time over the 2 hour limit so we got busy enjoying all sorts of high quality foods/meats and veggies some we recognized and some we didn’t. We got busy enjoying hot pots and grills all clean and functional but got lost when the staff started dropping items no one had ordered and missing items the group had ordered. We finally got enough cooked and eaten to enjoy some conversation and I asked about separating the checks into the couples. They were accommodating here, I paid and then remembered the birthday promise and cheesecake singing far too late as many in our party had jacketed up and headed out, I think the noisey dinning floor got them ready to scoot. Other than a birthday snaffu our meal was fun if confusing 1st experience. Though the staff seems to really struggle to communicate the restaurant concept despite repeating themselves MANY times about certain elements. Some elements went unaddressed with many options arriving, no labels, explanations or responses from staff when asked what food they were dropping. One waiter said “that’s either lamb or beef” a big shift for Idaho pallets. Photo is of my lovely wife enjoying supper without the birthday promises.
