My niece got married today and wanted to eat at California Dreaming for her reception. When we scheduled the reservation, we were told that we could be seated at tables next to each other… Well, that is not what happened. The lady who was sitting us, was very rude when she said it’s there policy to only sit 6 people per table and we would all be scattered all over the restaurant. She didn’t care to hear anything we said, just kept repeating policy. We had a party of 15. When we asked could we be sat near each other, we were advised that was not an option even if we waited. One of the servers barely came to the table, one of the servers didn’t refill drinks, the final server was great, unfortunately that was not the brides server. I guess we should have known that it was going to be bad when we got here and found out someones car was just broken into and all their money and personal items were stolen. I have attached 3 empty tables next to me. She just wanted to be argumentive! I bet if my hair or skin matched hers, it would have been different. Also, I couldn’t complain to the manager, she was the manager, Destiny…

The food is good but not heavily seasoned. The service was great. We had a reservation so we were quickly seated. The seater and waitress were both personable. Jane was our waitress and she was very attentive. We were seated by a window and had an incredible view. We will definitely come back if we come back to Charleston..

Recently visited for my mom’s birthday and it was hands down the best choice I could make! We visited at opening and were immediately greeted with smiles and fast service. Our table inside had an amazing view by the water and my mom loved seeing all of the boats. We started with the honey butter croissants which were fresh and as famous as everyone mentioned. I then had the fried seafood platter with the fried flounder, oysters and shrimp with a side of fries. My mom had the Charleston seafood pasta and she loved it. It came with mussels which she tried for the first time and thought was a great addition. All in all, it was a great experience. Worth every penny.

I stopped by for the first time this past Friday. I came by boat and appreciated the ample boat parking space. The dock is well maintained.
We decided to sit outside since it was a beautiful day. Staff and service were decently quick albeit they refused to serve some seats right next to the last table. I thought this was a little strange since staff walks by the area.
Outdoor tables and seats were clean. Bathrooms were also well stocked and clean.
We didn’t eat much but I did taste the soup, fries, and croissants. All items were good. I’ll definitely look to return. I hear the steak is wonderful.

Wonderful and amazing view! California Dreaming in Charleston is nice place to be. They delivered a wonderful dining experience. The ambiance was cozy yet classy, with waterfront seating that made everything feel more relaxed. The food was delicious — the croissants were warm and buttery, all our order was perfect. Service was prompt and friendly too. Perfect place for a nice evening out. I’ll definitely be back for sure.

Visited California Dreaming while in Charleston and we called in to reserve a table for 7. The maximum online reservation is for 6, but the staff was very accommodating over the phone.
There is a beautiful view of the water but the restaurant interior isn’t anything fancy. My chair was pretty rickety but it wasn’t a big deal since we were looking for a good family meal.
We all ordered a variety of meals and it was enjoyable. The shrimp and grits weren’t the best I ever had but they were decent. The most taste came from the andouille sausage, otherwise it wasn’t that seasoned. The steak burger and Nashville wings were good. The kids Alfredo was a huge serving and good.
The service was top notch and I want to commend the staff for all being friendly and making sure our needs were met.

Everything was great. We were celebrating our Autistic son’s birthday. Everyone was so attentive and nice. Me and my family enjoyed it. The service was absolutely fantastic. Our waitress was attentive without ever being overbearing, constantly checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. On top of that, the restaurant was spotless and just had an all-around pleasant, welcoming atmosphere.
We kicked things off with their famous croissants, which came out warm and fluffy, topped with a honey butter sauce that’s truly to die for. They disappeared in seconds – so good that we ordered an extra box to take home.
For my entree, I went with the crab cakes served alongside mashed potatoes and seasonal veggies, which were green beans and onions. Honestly, some of the best crab cakes I’ve ever had – perfectly cooked and paired with a sauce that made each bite even better. The mashed potatoes were creamy and flavorful, and the green beans had just the right amount of snap. I cleaned my plate.
My girlfriend ordered the fried shrimp with green beans and loved it. She also had a cocktail that she thought was delicious.
All in all, we had an amazing time. Highly recommend it for anyone looking for great food, excellent service, and a lovely atmosphere.
