I was charged a 20% tip without asking. I probably would have tipped, but it wasn’t stated that there was any automatic gratuity applied, leaving me to believe that the server applied it herself without asking me. If there is automatic gratuity, that should be stated somewhere clearly for customers to see. If there isn’t, then we were robbed.
My girlfriend who is Filipina, but latina-passing, was also made to feel uncomfortable when she couldn’t speak spanish. There were a few men sitting at the bar who commented on it. She isn’t latina, but even if she was, why make the environment unwelcoming, especially when it’s a new place and you need the good reputation?
I liked the food but I probably won’t be going back.
