Had a great experience at Southern Cafe! Everything I ordered was vegetarian, including the chocolate chip pancake, a burger with fries, and chilaquiles, and it was all delicious. The pancake was fluffy and sweet, the burger was satisfying, and the chilaquiles were full of flavor. The fries were served hot and fresh straight out of the fryer. They have great vegetarian options, and the atmosphere was welcoming with very friendly staff. Definitely a place I’d come back to!

The Southern Café has become one of our favorite spots in St. Charles! The owner is credibly kind and personable, and you truly feel the Southern hospitality the moment you walk in. We host our business meetings here quarterly because the atmosphere is comfortable, inviting, perfect for good conversation and they have a ton of space. If you ask ahead of time, they may reserve a nice space for you upstairs.
The food is always on point and consistent! I love their waffles and chilaquiles, and you genuinely get what you pay for here. Big portions and THOSE PANCAKES THOUGH.
Even their regular coffee is good, which is always appreciated.

First time going and I will definitely be going back. Right when you walk in the place is set up so cozy and cute, I was intrigued but hesitant to get the catfish grits, I looked online for a pic to get any idea of what id be plated, so I took one for you, and it tasted just as good as it looks im very please with my choice as was my friend who go the tex mex signature plate, which I tried and it was also delicious. 5 stars, try them!

Poached eggs were cooked perfectly. Biscuit not to my taste – pronounced baking powder flavor and I needed the tasty jam they provided to mask it. Nice fluffy texture though. Huge portion of crepes – the actual crepes were just ok but what’s not to like about strawberries, banana and Nutella? Our server was delightful, and the room is pleasant. Would not mind returning and would probably try the French toast next time.

Hands down the best brunch place in town! Highly recommend. I have dietary restrictions, but this spot truly offers something for everyone. The menu has plenty of options, and it’s a great place for large gatherings and parties!

As a vegetarian, I’ve tried a ton of veggie burgers across the U.S., but nothing comes close to what I had at The Southern Café – St. Charles. Their veggie burger was so, so, so good—honestly, the best I’ve had in the USA. Flavorful, juicy, and absolutely mind-blowing!
The coffee (recommended by the owner—I wish I caught the name!) tasted like Starbucks’ Java Chip, but even better. Smooth, rich, and perfectly balanced.
Their avocado toast was also incredibly unique, especially with their homemade jam and cream—such fresh flavors! You can tell they use high-quality, premium ingredients in everything.
I’m writing this as a vegetarian, but for all the meat lovers out there: if the veggie options are this amazing, I can only imagine how next-level the rest of the menu is.

The server was very nice and attentive which was the only good part. The salad tasted like dirt, even with the Caesar dressing (which was also not great). The ranch dressing was coagulated and the pancakes were gummy. My fries were like triple salted. The tuna melt was lukewarm. Flavorless “sourdough” toast and flavorless “whipped European butter.” But I guess you get HUGE portions, so you get TWO bad meals instead of one 🙂
