At our Pensacola, FL location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

You gotta be kidding me. You have to have people come out the backdoor to tell customers pull around front when ready, you pull around to order and deal with some red hair girl who is rude and has no clue how to take orders or talk and just turns her back and closes window. Then you have the big blue shirt, guessing manager, come around and no help. Store empty and it takes 15min. Now I get home and the “chicken” isn’t even bigger then the sauce packets. How is this store open? Bring back long john silvers. 14$ for this?

Clean place & bathrooms. Super nice, polite and accommodating cashier/server. Place was busy but quiet. 2 fish sandwiches and lobster/shrimp bite appetizer. All super yummy! Less than $20. I don’t understand the bad reviews, Captain D’s never disappoints! My pictures are horrible but the food was super!

It was alright I guess. The cashier was trying to run front counter and drove at the same time which I commend but during our order inside she was talking on her cellphone. I had the catfish which was ok but not really that great. My husband had the whitefish which was horrible and tasted kinda like plastic.
On the positive for sure the place was clean at least. We were there around 12 ish though and it was empty so probably should’ve been out hint.

Service was amazing, the food was amazing and the restaurant was spotless (clean) more so than that. The food was affordable, with how awful prices are all over the place right now, I can’t tell you how much it meant to me, to go into a restaurant that I used to go to with my grandfather before he passed, order the same meal we used to get together, have it taste exactly how it used to and have employees treat me so kindly when I walked in (and even brought me my meal to the table), honestly it made me so happy. Your restaurant made my day so much better, thank you for the meal and the memories.

For a fast food spot! They are
The staff are very professional. I think big dude is responsible for most of that. The brown skin manager.
The cheaper fish and fish sandwiches can be hit or miss at times, “but that lemon pepper salmon that was recommended by the short petite lady that tells herself she makes the best tea in the world is
It has the quality of most over priced restaurants if not better than some.

How are you gonna sell a family sampler with NINE pieces of fish, 12 pieces of shrimp, chicken strips and fries and only give 3 small cups of tartar sauce… no option to add more than 3 on the app. (We had it delivered) one small cup is enough for one piece of fish…

First time trying Captain D’s. I tried the chicken dinner with a baked potato and mac and cheese. It also came with two hush puppies. The chicken was thick and tender white meat chicken. I’m on the fence about the coating I will have to try again but flavor didn’t seem to be the greatest. The baked potato was generous with sour cream and butter. However it was steamed or microwaved so there was no crispy skin at all. The hush puppies were very bland, and the mac and cheese was kind of just one small spoonful clump and was just okay. The meal was $ 11 ish. I’m not sure what I was expecting but I’ve seen a lot of people post on other sites that they thought it was good. I will definitely give them another try though. I will try the butterfly shrimp and possibly the green beans with ham, and maybe the jalapeno poppers. I’m not a fish eater other than shrimp so maybe this place is just not for me.

The food was surprisingly fast! I never think about eating here because I get stuck in a loop eating at McD and subway. I wanted something different and noticed Captain Ds. Place was super clean, smelled good, and food was perfect. I’m not exaggerating. Nothing overcooked or warmed up. They did a good job on my first visit. Support good Buisness like this, we need them!

I am more disappointed today than ever. I usually had the shrimp for 4.99, but that no longer exists. So the closest thing to my shrimp was 8 pieces and a fillet of fish. The shrimp was so small, over cooked and was sitting for awhile, it was dehydrated a bit. Had fries, they were cold by the time our 5 min drive home was done. There were 2 female employees with phones in their faces while we waited. The slaw had cabbage with brown edges, meaning this was mixed with fresher cabbage. It appears that no one was happy working here. There needs to be a person like me who would fire and hire better staff, shake it up a bit, kick some motivation into the employees!
