They were out of a lot…. Like a lot, one of the things was fries that we were all really wanting and then a couple of the entrees that a couple of us had wanted. They were very accommodating though and even brought us lemon cello shots on the house.
My burger was incredible, as well as the salad. I was very pleased. My husband and friend both got the chicken and waffles, the chicken was a bit dry but the waffle was good. Could have used more syrup. My gf got the risotto and it was very flavorful, definitely something you would enjoy if you like mushroom mushrooms.
I would definitely like to go back to try some of the things that they were out of for sure.
Bathroom was clean and even had toiletry items if needed.
Our server was lovely, friendly, and also spacious. The “vibe” was cozy and calm, a great place for a relaxed late lunch.
As far as food choices, absolutely LOVED the french fries, some of the best I’ve ever had. Lots of good sauces, though I think the garlic aioli was a little weak garlic.
The smoked wings were incredible! Tasty, moist, fall of the bone. I would visit again for these items alone.
The house caesar was tasty too. Lots of finely sliced parm. Fresh and not over-dressed.
I also ordered a brisket sandwich which was not good. It was dry, heavy, and about 1/3 of the pieces of brisket were just solid fat. I would not recommend this. It lacked balance in flavour and texture. My partner ordered the burger which was good, nothing to write home about.
I wish I had ordered the corndog, the server recommended it!
Loved also the restrooms that were stocked with tampons, hair ties, and other good treats, ALSO they had pinball machines in the entry way. Show up with quarters and have some fun!
Nothing short of amazing thanks to Kylie she’s super friendly and her positive energy really made the whole experience even better!!
why i miss old carrigan’s: the old spot on 25th and morris was a little large and echo-y, but i still loved going! great parking, and train watching was awesome; however, the new spot is so much more intimate! it’s off the beaten path: two entrances from down the alley between 19th st N and 20th st N or the front entrance on 3rd ave N. it almost gives it an exclusive secret garden vibe. i love that aspect.
i have actually been a few times since they’ve reopened in the new location and each of these visits has been a worthwhile mention.
positives: the staff is a ton of familiar faces from the old location! hospitality mentions go to: colin, amanda, sam, jade, grayson, and kylie. food is familiar, yet there exist new and different options from the old spot. same for the cocktails! they have a lot of the old tried-and-true choices from their old menu with fresh and new desirable alternatives available. this new spot feels more like a neighborhood bar than the destination spot vibes the old place had.
big shoutout to SAM behind the bar in particular. he curated a unique experience for me and my date. apparently he used to work at the old location a while back and started back at carrigan’s recently at the new location. what a champ. dealt with way too many of my questions and only had great suggestions (not just food and drink at carrigan’s, but he wound up suggesting multiple places for us to visit afterward)
negatives: i can’t afford to go here three times a week (i want to).
though i have mostly gone solo or with another friend, i recently attended a private event on their roof top. GORGEOUS spot with exclusive roof top views, unlike any other in the immediate area. a very well stocked bar and comfortable atmosphere. the spot honestly looks like it could fit 100 people, but our event was only 65. indoor/ outdoor access made it super convenient. amanda was our point of contact that day and she KILLED IT. if you ever need an option for private parties i highly recommend checking out carrigan’s private rooftop!!
