We have been three times for special occasions. Our family always gets the thrill of having a great chef with interaction, shrimp throwing and laughs. But all three times the chefs have been dull, not interactive, and just boring! Our server was great on the other hand. Food. Can’t say much about it, everything tasted the same and the noodles were sweet.

So yesterday we came from Orlando to go fishing out here in St Augustine and on the way we started to get hungry, hubby wanted hibachi and I googled this amazing place popped up, at the time never knew it was amazing but after going in and eating wow! The chef Jorge yes remember his name Jorge is such an awesome and amazing person overall! The lil show he does as he is preparing the food was priceless! My children were so thrilled we have never been to a place like this. I think we have another new spot in St Augustine! Thank you the food as well was beyond good and delicious ☺️

We stopped here for sushi and did not try the hibachi table, but it looked and smelled delicious.
Inside is nicely decorated and clean. Our server, Amber, was excellent–very attentive and on the ball.
We ordered various sushi rolls including the spicy tuna, Yamato roll, Birthday roll, A.J. roll, and Salmon roll.
Spicy tuna is my go to roll and was lacking in flavor, but the tuna was fresh and a whole piece (vs minced) which was nice. I had to ask for hot sauce in order to make it spicy, which was disappointing.
The other rolls I’m told were very good.
My only other nit is that the tea was served with a bag in the cup. My preference is when the tea is brewed and you are served a pot with tea leaves inside. I found this a little surprising considering it is an upscale dining restaurant and the price point of the cup of tea.
The house soup, miso soup, and salad were good, but again nothing amazing.
Overall I would return to try the hibachi table but will leave the sushi for some of the sushi focused restaurants in the area, of which there are many.

Rude lady. Let me explain, I had 7 in my party, they sat us at the hibachi, handed out the menus and when taking the order, two people in my party asked for sushi menus and the lady became very rude and said something like “if you wanted sushi I would have sat you elsewhere”. She was very impolite, made them feel like idiots. I was tempted to leave because of her rudeness and the two in my party offered to move and I think she noticed how childish she was being and backed off. I have eaten at hibachi/japanese style places all over the southeast from the Carolinas to Southern Florida, all of them allow sushi menus at the hibachi. Also, a majority of the hibachi grills were open, we ate very early, there was no crowd at the time, so to be rude to 2 customers, that ordered over $120 of sushi, was really poor service.

Absolutely wonderful time, atmosphere, chef, hostess and experience. We brought some visiting family here, including three children under 10, they all had such a memorable, wonderful time. Our chef was amazing, the food was perfectly prepared, and his presentation was impeccable, I can’t image the hours it would take one to learn how to crack an egg on the edge of a knife (impressive!)

It was a special night so we decided to take a seat directly in front of Yamato’s sushi chef. He was funny, clever, and a wonderful conversationalist! With every confidence I can say he is highly trained.
We ordered the Mexican roll, the California roll and the Covid roll at first. After ordering I realized I was missing one of my favorite sushi experience ingredients, eel, and quickly we saw that the Dragon roll is the same as the California roll modified to include eel and avacado on top. We sheepishly asked if it was too late to change it and our sushi man assured us he can do anything. I believe him! He granted our wish and everything he presented to us was absolutely delectable.
Our server kept up on our water and she continued to check on us, throughout. I suppose we were looking to fill in all the gaps and decided to order miso soup to finish the deal. Our server was thorough to clarify for us the exact ingredients in the miso soup, making sure that was exactly what we wanted.
We had a pleasant time at Yamato and we loved the chocolate covered mints given to us with our check! Nice touch. Thanks so much! We are excited to return for the Hibachi experience sometime in the future!

Went to Yamatos for a nice family dinner, and was greeted by one very sweet host a little blonde. And my sever was absolutely delightful, the ginger. The over all my experience was amazing. I would definitely come here again
