Sushi Sakana at Las Colinas isn’t just serving sushi; they’re delivering an experience that consistently earns them top marks for both artistry and hospitality. Nestled in a cozy, welcoming atmosphere, this spot is perfect for everything from a first date to a reliable mid-week treat. While you might find yourself surrounded by the unexpected (and oddly charming) sounds of country music, the moment your order arrives, all distractions melt away.
The key to Sakana’s success is the freshness of the fish, shining through whether you opt for simple sashimi or their elaborately crafted signature rolls. Start your culinary journey with the classics like the consistently “good” Spicy Tuna Roll or jump straight into the fan-favorite Sakana Fire Roll and the inventive Avocado Bomb. But don’t sleep on the incredible kitchen appetizers! The crispy Veg Spring Rolls and the savory, perfectly steamed Beef Dumplings are fantastic starters that set the bar high for the rest of your meal.
Sushi Sakana truly shines by offering non-sushi options that are just as impressive. Their generous kitchen entrees, like the perfectly prepared Chicken Teriyaki with grilled vegetables, are savory, tender, and great for anyone looking for a hearty meal. And for comfort food that earns a five-star review, the Udon Noodles Soup—packed with rich, yummy broth and perfectly chewy noodles—is a warm hug in a bowl, especially on a cooler day. The menu variety caters wonderfully to the whole group, ensuring everyone leaves happy.
But what truly elevates Sushi Sakana beyond a good meal is the service. Reviewers frequently highlight the warm, attentive staff, often noting thoughtful extra touches like a surprise scoop of ice cream with the check or a small, unexpected bonus when ordering takeout. This commitment to customer delight transforms a regular dinner into a truly memorable event, fostering loyalty that keeps people coming back. The fresh fish, generous portions, and 5-star hospitality make the Las Colinas location a must-visit destination in Irving.
The staff truly went above and beyond. The roads were frozen and dangerous; on my way there I actually saw a car sliding on the street. Yet they still showed up, took the risk, and delivered an amazing experience.
Special shoutout to Gabriella, who is usually a server but stepped up as the bartender that night. She made me a Moscow Mule and a Martini, and both were absolutely perfect. You’d never guess she wasn’t the regular bartender — professional, smooth, and great energy.
The food was outstanding, the music and vibes were on point, and the whole atmosphere felt warm and welcoming when the entire city felt shut down.
This wasn’t just good service — this was commitment, resilience, and passion.
And tonight, Sushi Sakana proved exactly that.
Respect. Gratitude. And I’ll definitely be back.
