December 31, 2025 at 10:30am. Just left. Food came out not even warm. Asked for soft scrambled eggs and received hard scrambled eggs in strips. Biscuits and gravy was cold and not glistening on plate so you could see that it’s been sitting for a while. It had a dull look. Tomatoes had a weird taste to them. Was told the dishwasher broke so everyone gets paper products. Waitress was told and she went to the kitchen to discuss with someone but stopped on her way to inform another waitress who looked directly at me. We could not eat that cold food after giving it a try, so we went to register. Waitress said the cook discounted our food so we paid for it, even though we couldn’t eat it and left it on the table. Waitress told us that the cooks are blaming them for the cold food being served. Biscuits and gravy should be plated last, not first, to not sit and wait on rest of the food while it gets cold. Sounds like cooks need plating lessons. When we got to the front to pay, thru the food serve window, we could see the kitchen staff was huddled with our waitress at the kitchen door and clearly discussing our complaint. We watched as they talked. We stood there a few minutes before she looked up at the front and saw us standing there at the register and surely told them we were watching because every man back there turned around to look at us. All patrons eating in the front room was silent and watching us too. The younger guys went back to whatever they were doing and the older guys turned back around to her. We still waited and then she came out to us. I specifically asked for soft scrambled eggs but instead I received hard scrambled eggs that were in long strips. So no, it was not cooked correctly. We were so embarrassed knowing that everyone in the kitchen had to be informed about our experience and turning around to see who made the complaint and then watching the other customers looking at us and then at your kitchen staff like they knew. Maybe the overhesrd them? We didn’t say anything in the front room. We stood silent as we listened to the waitress when she came to the register to tell us what the cook told her. I walked out in embarrassment as my husband paid the reduced bill. Customers should never have to go thru this.
Hate to leave this review but it is an honest review. Our first time here. What an experience. 10:35am. 12/31/25
Owner sent me a pm and said food was made correctly and it was the waitreses fault we reived cold food. No, food was not made correctly and it was plated in wrong order and left sitting while waiting for rest of our order. Owner offered a gift certificate to come back and try again but we declined. Read All 1, 2 and 3 star reviews. Many very similar complaints.

Absolutely LOVE this little slice of Heaven! Food’s delicious, portions are a great size, service is on point, coffee’s hot, lighting’s good… The sausage is mild and cooked perfect, eggs also perfectly cooked to order. I prefer over easy and they come out exactly runny like I like ’em. Grits have just the right amount of butter and salt not too plain and not too salty, not too gritty or too creamy like mush. They’re cooked just right! The biscuits and gravy are nice and hot also a perfect consistency and awesome flavor! It’s quiet. No loud music like waffle house although I do enjoy that sometimes. Only the sound of soft voices in conversation and the occasional clanking of a stirring spoon spinning clouds in a coffee And did I mention the food and the coffee all for just $12 and some change!! Hard to find a price so perfect too!! I’ll see y’all again! Will definitely make this a regular breakfast spot!!

What can I say about this place this is the best diner in whole entire Spartanburg county area! This is actually my go-to restaurant the only place that ever impressed me time after time. And never had any issues I continually keep constantly going back a few times a week atleast I have told multiple people about this place everything that I’ve gotten to eat here I thoroughly enjoyed loved the redneck burger and the onion rings was the tried many things on the menu never gotten anything that I didn’t care for definitely check this place out you won’t be disappointed highly recommend this restaurant establishment

We’ve been looking for a good diner experience for breakfast. My wife remembered and we took a drive out there. The staff were awesome first and foremost.
I had the western omelette that was stuffed, I could only eat half. The grits were creamy, some of the best I’ve had.
I saw the server walking by with a chicken fillet biscuit. the fillet must’ve been at least twice as big as the biscuit itself.
I do recommend John’s café and will definitely go back

Good down home cooking, pleasant waitress gave good service to our group of ten for a late lunch. My Philly Cheese steak was yummy and I ordered a side of “Livermush” for the table. Judged to be much like our PA Dutch food “scrapple”, and well prepared. We ll certainly go again.

If I could give their customer service less than 1 star I would. I had an issue with an online order and they were NO help at all! The response from the manager was absolutely awful and I wish I had the her name because I would definitely put her on blast! Great place for breakfast! This place was recommended to us and wow! It was absolutely delicious! I got the two for two breakfast with pancakes, bacon, eggs, and sausage- it was a TON of food and all of it was amazing! My husband got the bowl with grits, biscuits, gravy, eggs and sausage. The service was very prompt and all staff was so kind. We will definitely be back!
