Halloween/Anniversary date at the Whale and Ale.

They decorated the place and it looks even more quaint and cozy.

The sausage rolls were DIVINE!!!! Omg we couldn’t stop eating them.

The fish n chips were on point, flaky, and no fishy taste. Wonderful.

And the fiancées Shepard pie was scrumptious.

A wonderful place with perfectly delicious food. The fish & chips are particularly good. The decor is unique outside, inside, in the bar, upstairs, and even in the bathrooms. Located in a special area of San Pedro, be sure to take the time to walk around the neighborhood after enjoying this special
restaurant. Parking can be tight and metered on most days. Upscale meal pricing. Service dogs welcome. Enjoy!!

I definitely recommend this place. I went on a cold night and they had the fireplace going and we sat next to it and it felt amazing and extremely cozy. The entire inside is a dark wood, which makes you feel like you’re actually in England. The food was also great. We had the deep fried onion and burger. Both were very good. Probably some of the best fries that I’ve ever had. Also, the service from Sarah and the owner were very nice and certainly made us wanna come back. They also had live music when we were there which was also very nice.

This is an Irish pub in San Pedro, so it’s not necessarily where you think to look for Irish fare.
Our server was great….very friendly and very attentive, and all the staff seemed pretty welcoming. The atmosphere is a bit more dive bar than Irish pub and could use a little updating.
The food was a little hit and miss. The chowder was a little fishy, and the ice cream with the bread pudding was freezer burned. But the French Dip was really good (and those fries/chips are probably worth the visit all by themselves)! The Scotch egg was different than any other we’ve tried, but in a good way.
We went on a Saturday afternoon, and it wasn’t super busy, but was starting to pick up as we left. So probably a good sign that the locals were starting to flow in.
Not a “must stop”, but worth a try.

Myself, wife and 2 fiends went there for lunch on Jan. 17. I cannot get over how great our server was (Cannot remember her name) She was fabulous. Very friendly and engaging. Food was top shelf. We hope to be back next time we are in the LA area

Visited on a beautiful Saturday afternoon and chose to eat outside on the patio.

First the service was great! Greeted warmly and promptly when entered by what seemed all the staff. Ha, it was “hello & welcome” in stereo.

My girlfriend had the Steak & Mushroom Pie and loved it! Great recommendation from our waitress. I went for my favorite, good old Fish & Chips. And they didn’t disappoint! Perfectly crisp fresh cod, and the chips were made to perfection.

Next time we’ll eat inside and take in the ambience that is Whale & Ale. But on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, it was tough to pass up the sunshine.

We came in on first Thursday’s after exploring San Pedro for a bit. Very attentive server, nice ambience with open fireplace and old wood decor. Feels like an old Irish pub. Food is good. Sausage rolls were not what I expected, it’s an actual sausage wrapped in pastry, not ground meat. The Fish and chips were great and the gravy on the sausages and mash was really tasty. Two rounds of beers and ciders for two and it cost us $120 with tax and tip. Also they had karaoke on Thursday night which was a nice surprise. Recommend if you’re looking for warm vibe and comfort food.

The service was good, but the food was just OK. The Shepard’s pie wasn’t that great, but the fish and chips and fish tacos were good. The scotch egg was ok. They did have a mushroom soup and that was absolutely amazing though!

The staff and owner are super friendly and nice! I ordered the bangers and mash which was delicious. My husband ordered the fish and chips which was amazing and both were large orders. The pimms cup and the whiskey sour were refreshing and very tasty! Hopefully we’ll get to visit again next time we’re on vacation. (Sadly only took pictures of our drinks)
