Cracker Barrel in Belleville absolutely deserves five stars — especially for their chicken.
Every time I go, it feels like real comfort food done the right way. The fried chicken is hands-down some of the best around. Crispy on the outside, perfectly seasoned, and juicy on the inside. It’s not greasy, not dry — just that classic Southern-style crunch that cracks when you bite into it. You can tell it’s made fresh and cooked with care.
The Sunday Homestyle Chicken is unreal. That golden brown crust with tender white meat inside is exactly what comfort food should taste like. Pair it with mashed potatoes and gravy, mac and cheese, or their biscuits (which are always warm and buttery), and it’s honestly hard to beat.
Even the grilled chicken options are flavorful and never bland. Everything comes out hot and consistent, which says a lot.
Beyond the food, the Belleville location always feels welcoming. The staff is friendly, the restaurant is clean, and the whole country-store atmosphere just makes the experience better. It’s the kind of place you go when you want to sit down, relax, and actually enjoy your meal.

The chicken fried chicken and southern fried chicken were very good and we got a lot of it, but the sides were the disappointment. Very small portions especially compared to the amount of chicken on the plates, and were quite bland tasting… watered down even. Otherwise we were happy. Service was friendly and attentive, tables were clean, place was welcoming, and who doesn’t love perusing the country store for hours, right?!? I also have to mention how amazing they are for having truck/RV parking.

The hostess was super friendly, and set the stage for me having more patience for what was to come. I had to change my order to carryout shortly after we sat down. Our service was nice…but not efficient. The first time she forgot to include my salad. The next time she gave me the wrong sauce for my salad. I could see she was having a rough day, so I tried to be very nice in asking for corrections. The catfish with Mac n cheese and greens were delicious and perfectly seasoned. Overall a good place if you are in the mood for comfort food. Just bring a heavy dose of patience.

Ricardo was the best waiter I’ve ever had. He was polite, patient and had an amazing approachable personality and demeanor. Daniel was also great too, I seen him helping sit down a customer that came in with a walker. As far as food I got the crispy chicken tenders, fries, and bacon Mac’ and cheese. It came out within 20 minutes, the food was hot and it was absolutely scrumptious. I give my biggest appreciation to every chef in the back that captivated my tongue today . I had to edit this, the bacon and cheese tater tots were even better than everything else I wish I could’ve gave Ricardo a tip:(.
10/10 would definitely come back no doubt.

Hostess tried to sit us at a dirty table when more than half the section had clean available tables. We asked to sit at a clean table instead. The next couple brought to the section again was sat at a dirty table. At least 3 tables sat dirty as we “ate” our meal.
I ordered a chicken sandwich with fries. Plate came out with literally 9 fries on it (see pic). Prior to the picture I cut the sandwich in half. My wife ordered breakfast, bacon crispy and eggs over medium. First thing she noticed was the bacon was barely cooked far from well done. She pointed it out to the waitress. The waitress came back with a plate so they could have the bacon back and cook it more. Then my wife pokes her eggs and same as the bacon barely cooked. She was done I was done. The other couple that was sat at the dirty table seemed to be having the same experience as us. Female of the couple sent back a skillet meal, food was burnt to the pan.

The atmosphere and food are great and so is the service. Me, my wife, and kids frequently come here to eat and now that our daughter has grown enough to sit in a high chair it has gotten better. They are nice and respectful and caterer to all kinds and make sure you are taken care of from your allergic reaction to making you sure you leave with a smile this place represents hospitality and will be eating here again. Thank you for serving us and we look forward to coming back.

The waitress was horrible. The food mediocre and the ambiance family oriented. My husband’s hash browns weren’t burnt beyond recognition and had to be sent back. When I advised that the forks/knives were dirty she got flustered and said she was getting a manager. I am never one to assume, but being people of color at this place in Brighton made me feel like we had made a very bad choice coming here. She stomped off to the kitchen and came back with better hashbrowns and began to explain that folks mistaken their dish washer cleaner as food on their forks?! Really!?! I showed her the food caked on the utensils. By the way, no manager ever came over. They weren’t water spots! My husband still tipped her 20%.
On the flip side I REALLY enjoyed their country store. I bought a GRINCH sweatshirt and the folks were nice.
Will I be back to another Cracker Barrel? Probably not. You only get once chance to serve me nasty burnt food with an attitude.
I know folks are hard to go by as employees, but at least hire folks that can handle customer service. We NEVER asked for a manager. So maybe take this as a learning moment for a young lady that needs more training.

I purchased the gingerbread house. I had a 40 minute drive each way. The staff was nice. My item was retrieved from the back wrapped in plastic and it was also in a box. I didn’t look at it before leaving the store. When I got home and looked at it, it looked used. The snow was scrapped off of part of the roof, chimney and the bottom and it was dirty. Didn’t want to drive back to the store to exchange it, I just figured I would fix it, something I shouldn’t have to do. I bet I’ll look next time.

This is part 2 of my experience. I dined in and I ordered a meal to go for dinner.
I ordered your new burger the BBQ SmokeStack I believe it’s called. Immediate issue was it looked like something was missing. It was! Half of my fries, very skimpy serving. I literally had about 7-10 fries. I ordered this burger well done. Another term is no pink!
At 8pm I took the patty off the bun, placed it on aluminum foil with the fries to heat up. After the fries were done I cut into my burger. PINK MEAT GLARING AT ME ! So back into the oven it went! I did not order food that needed to be cooked. I paid for a prepared meal and gave simple special instructions. I cannot state firmly enough how very disappointed I am with the decision to dine at CB to celebrate my 5th National Cancer Survivor Day!
