Terrible Experience!
We had a late breakfast at this place. When we arrived, no one was in the restaurant, and we were seated. The waiter (I believe his name was Henry) came over and started pouring water, then asked if we wanted coffee. I replied, but he did not acknowledge my order for about a minute — only saying “okay” once he had finished pouring. My partner’s coffee arrived cold, mine was fine, but it took 10 minutes to arrive.
We ordered our food and waited around 25 minutes before asking the manager how much longer it would take. His response was: “I’ll check — poached eggs take ages.” His answer and attitude were both astounding.
He went into the kitchen to assist the staff and, speaking loudly enough for us to hear, asked where the green garnish was. The kitchen staff replied there was none that day. He insisted there was some, grabbed it with his bare hands, and placed it on the food.
We received our breakfast just over 5 minutes after we had asked about it. The poached eggs were cold — as was the rest of the food. We wasted both time and money at this place and would strongly not recommend it.

Took my daughter here for breakfast and it did not disappoint. Staff was prompt and friendly and the atmosphere had a cool vibe. The food was pretty basic breakfast food and it was priced about the same as any other breakfast place you go too. We parked around the corner on the street in metered parking and it cost $1.50 which is good for downtown Dallas.

Imagine stepping back into 1962 — but without the racism. That’s exactly what this place feels like. It has that nostalgic diner charm with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Very quaint. Very cute. A true step back in time in the best way.

We went during breakfast. I ordered the two-egg breakfast, and the portion sizes were huge. Honestly, it could have been split between two to three people depending on your appetite. Everything was cooked well and seasoned properly — no bland diner food here.

My partner had the biscuits and gravy. The homemade biscuits were soft and delicious, paired with well-seasoned sausage patties and rich gravy. It truly tasted like somebody’s grandma made it.

The restaurant is located inside the Salter Hotel, which adds to the overall charm and beauty of the experience.

Our server, Natalie, was attentive without hovering — present, professional, and pleasant.

Overall, I’d give the food an 8 out of 10 and the experience an 8 out of 10. Definitely a place I would come back to.

Nice breakfast! Plates are generous and the food quality is excellent! Service was great. We were a larger group and others raved about the chicken fried steak and biscuits. We shared the giant cinnamon roll which was amazing. Highly recommend!

The service was quick and attentive, making for an enjoyable visit. The food quality was excellent, with many options on the menu. The coffee was fresh and delicious.
The seating was comfortable, with plenty of space for groups or solo diners. It’s a convenient spot that’s definitely worth returning to.
The Ranch Hand was phenomenal!

I’m rating this restaurant five stars specifically based on my experience with the lead chef and the morning manager, Vince. I was very dissatisfied with how the new owners changed the menu and Vince went out of his way to ensure I was able to recapture my favorite morning dish – smoke salmon. I was so saddened when the menu changed to have this served with rye bread instead of the everything bagel. It literally ruined a perfectly good meal. I genuinely hope the new owners take into account feedback from returning guests. The rooftop bar is also lackluster now, since condensing the menu and removing pizza. These are literally just terrible ideas. Still though, the service I received deserves an honorable mention. New owners, do better.

This was by far the worst experience I have ever had at ANY restaurant. We waited about 30 mins to be seated and then when we were, no one came to check on us or offer water or anything for a good 20mins. When the waitstaff finally showed up to take our order, they were out of pretty much everything we tried to order. No cinnamon roll, biscuits or pancakes. After we placed our order, we had to wait a good 20mins for our coffees and were never offered refills. Then maybe another 20mins went by before our tables food started to trickle out. It probably took a good 10mins for everyone to have their food with still somethings missing. When those missing things started coming, we also were being offered food that wasn’t even for our table. Then as we were eating, we saw table around us receiving pancakes, even though when we ordered they were out. No one refilled our waters or $5 black coffees. Then when the bill came there was gratuity already added!!! We were only a table of 5 so that was uncalled for. The entire experience was horrible. Would never recommend and we felt bad for all the people waiting to get in because they had no idea what they were in for.

They automatically add a 20% tip and there is no where that tells you that. I didn’t realize it till later so I had added a tip. So almost $50 for 2 people for eggs, bacon, coffee and tea. Half the price to walk down the street and eat at the food hall.
Restaurant was freezing cold inside. Not enjoying eating while you are freezing.
Food was ok but for the price it should have been better.
My husband said the coffee was Not good. Much better coffee at food hall down the street. I had a $5 cup of tea that was just 1 tea bag (cheap tea you get at grocery store) and 1 cup of hot water (no pot of hot water so that you might steep the bag twice for 2 cups).
Needless to say we won’t be back to this restaurant. If we stay at the Statler again we will walk down to the food hall.
