I was excited to try the newest spot in the neighborhood. It’s cute inside with comfy booths. The menu has nice variety and each dish distinct spices and flavors. I especially liked the chicken rice and our table loved the chicken curry pot pie. Would come back for a special dinner.

I got to say I’m really excited for this new Malaysian spot. The space is dimly lit, spacious and furnished with deep red velvet booths sitting like a new take on boudoir style but made it south east asian.

I highly recommends the Rendang with oxtail and Curry Pot Pie from the main. Moonlight Kway Teow (Broad rice noodle) and Char Siu (BBQ pork belly). The oxtail rendang is something I havent had anywhere else before and its packed with flavours with a little spicy kick to it and goes so well with just a bowl of white rice. Not to say the curry pot pie and moonlight kway teow is any lesser in flavours (stir fried smokiness) and homeyness (curry gravy). The char siu was soft and fatty and surprisingly a bigger portion as an appetiser.

Since the restaurant is just in its 5th or 6at week in. Definitely have rooms for more improvement like the portion of Rojak ( the Chinese crullers was stale) and Butter roti (maybe add 2 mores slices) as you can see from my pics. The service could be more polished and just waiting for the liquor license to see what interesting cocktails they can conjure up.

It is a place for elevated Malaysian cuisine and I would def come back with friends who are interested to explore the rich flavours of Malaysia. Can they be as successful as fellow Thai, Viet or Pinoy? Since all of them are very established in the food scene.

Had a great experience here! Ordered a bunch of foods to try and I was not disappointed by a single dish (I even went out of my comfort here). Service was good and atmosphere was a cool vibe. Would recommend and will be back!

Fantastic restaurant — fun, modern take on Malaysian food. Went with a group of 5 and got the paratha, curry puffs, lei cha rice, abacus seeds, rendang, and Hainanese chicken.

Dishes were all fantastic, but especially recommend the paratha, abacus seeds, and the rendang. Also really recommend the KoKo-M drink, did not expect chocolate and lemongrass to go so well together.

The atmosphere was really cozy with plenty of space and personality, and the staff and owners were all enthusiastic and super nice!

We went for brunch. Authentic, delicious Malaysian cuisine. The ambiance is tasteful and clean, the service is prompt and kind, and the food was served in generous portions. You can tell they take ingredients seriously and think critically about how to preserve Malaysian flavors.

I was honestly pleasantly surprised by how good everything was! As a Malaysian, the decor felt super nostalgic, and even though the dishes are fusion, a lot of the flavours really tasted like home. I’ve tried rendang at other Malaysian spots in NYC, but so far Kelang has absolutely nailed it. Also hoping they sell their sambal someday!

One of the best Malaysian restaurants I’ve ever been to! My favorite dishes were the char siu and rendang (oxtail) – both were incredibly flavorful. Compliments to the chef, Nick, for an amazing meal 🙂

Finally a Malaysian restaurant in the Greenpoint / Williamsburg neighborhood! Kelang is a beautiful restaurant and I loved the decor and atmosphere (beautifully designed). We ordered the roti, paratha, cha siu, hokkien mee and moonlight kway teow. The standouts were definitely the cha siu and paratha. I’m impressed with the general atmosphere but honestly no dish really stood out to me outside of the paratha.
Nonetheless, I would recommend giving it a shot!
