I recently visited Thai Orchid’s new Northland location and was truly impressed! The space is beautiful with a warm, inviting ambiance that makes the dining experience even better.
The cocktail menu is fantastic. I tried the Lychee Martini and the Thai Espresso Martini, and both were delicious with great presentation.
We started with the Thai Orchid Sampler, which included spring rolls, crab rangoons, and crispy rolls, along with the coconut shrimp. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared.
For our main dishes, we tried several items: the Tiger Garlic Fried Rice, Shrimp Pad Thai, Papaya Salad, Pad Kee Mao, and Beef Khao Soi. Every dish was packed with flavor and tasted authentic. You can really tell they put care into every plate.
We ended with the Fried Banana & Ice Cream, which was the perfect sweet finish.
Overall, Thai Orchid Northland is a wonderful addition to the area great food, beautiful atmosphere, excellent service, and a menu full of standout dishes. I highly recommend checking them out!

Everything was good, I was just confused why there are different menus on the website and different rules on the menu there. I ordered a curry it was sweet and delicious. Ordered 2 drink. Thai margarita which was beautiful and tasted just as beautiful, I did eat a few of the pedals of the flower wasn’t bad at all. The second was Thai Colada which was beautiful, but wasn’t nearly as good as the margarita. Service was good. The atmosphere was very intriguing to look at.

My absolute favorite find of restaurant week. Food was immaculate – fresh, generous portions, and so damn tasty. The peanut sauce was off the charts. The next day at work they had free lunch and I ate my leftovers instead because even reheated I knew it’d be better than whatever chain restaurant my work catered. It was that freaking good.

I am genuinely sad I didn’t find this place sooner. I had the crab rangoon, spring rolls, and dumplings as my dinner. Hands down the best crab rangoon I’ve had in KC so far. Everything was so delicious. I already want to go back. I had the fried apple wontons for dessert, and they were divine. I haven’t stopped thinking about them.
Ravey took such good care of us. She was kind, attentive, answered all of our questions, and had the perfect pace of service.

Love the atmosphere here, they definitely did a fantastic job with a classy, yet laid back vibe. Moderate/loud noise level depending on how busy it is.
I tried their fall special Thai Pumpkin Curry dish, which came out in a ceramic pumpkin; nice touch! The dish was fantastic and very flavorful. Large chunks of braised beef accompanied the tender bites of pumpkin squash. Hopefully this will be back next fall as a special! The other dishes we had were the calamari appetizer, crying tiger garlic fried rice (unfortunately it didn’t come out at the requested spice level, but the spice tray helped), and the fall special apple fried wontons (yum!).
Service was good once we were finally acknowledged and brought our water. Not sure if there was supposed to be a different server, but the bartender had to attend to us. He was great and friendly, made some good recommendations for items to try.

We got the crab ragoons, Thai sausage, pad Thai, crying tiger fried rice, and pumpkin curry. The food was perfectly spiced and came out so quickly! Everything was incredible and Hayden provided amazing service and gave great suggestions on what’s good on the menu. I’ve been a fan of Thai Orchid for years at their original location in Mission Kansas and I was so excited and so happy to then come to their new location in the Northland. Its style is so elegant and beautiful. Highly recommend to anyone that would like a fun and yummy Thai restaurant!

Thai Orchid is a Northland gem that perfectly balances a polished, modern vibe with deeply comforting flavors. You absolutely cannot leave without trying the Crab Rangoons; they are incredibly light and shatteringly crisp with a savory filling that avoids being overly sweet. Another must-order is the Duck Noodle —the broth is intensely aromatic, and the braised duck is so tender it practically melts. Between the stylish decor and the top-tier service, it’s easily one of the best Thai dining experiences in Kansas City.

Me and my family ate here and the vibes were amazing. All of their cocktails and drinks taste just as good as they look and they are beautiful. Food was hot and fast and we all enjoyed our meals. The place was amazing. Emilie was our server and she did not disappoint. The food and drinks were amazing. Starting with the appetizer and first cocktail – they were out almost as soon as we were done ordering. (Fastest services I’ve ever had). The food was delicious. We started with the crabs ragoons and Thai basil wings, which were a perfect start. They flavor and presentation was delightful. We got the khao soi and the basil fried rice for our main course and each bite left us wanting more despite how full we were. The mix between the red and yellow curry in the Khao soi was incredible and we asked for the fried rice extra hot and the flavor DID NOT disappoint. Overall great experience. Great for the northland to have such a great place to have a nice dinner!
