I had such a lovely experience at Gino’s in Oxford. The surprise highlight was the coffee, which tasted just like the ones I’ve had in Italy. The carbonara was wonderfully authentic, the pizza was decent, and the hospitality was warm from start to finish. And OMG, the parmigiana with eggplant was absolutely divine.

I had a lovely experience at Gino’s. The ambience was welcoming and relaxed, and the customer service was genuinely excellent — attentive without ever feeling rushed.
The parmigiana was very good, and the pizza ai funghi was perfectly fine, though not the highlight of the meal. What really surprised me, though, was the coffee. Absolutely outstanding, rich, aromatic and easily the best part of the experience.
Thank you, Gino for a memorable visit. I’ll be back for that coffee alone.

I was hoping this place would pasta my test, unfortunately it failed to win a pizza my heart. I’ll start with the positives: good service, and good seating options including an outdoor patio (so you can *almost* trick yourself into thinking you’re in Florence, if you squint hard enough). The food was the biggest let down. We had garlic bread with cheese to start, which had a strange, strong aftertaste. I ordered the tagliatelle bolognaise, a dish I know and love. Nothing about it screamed “l’amour”; it lacked any depth of flavour and I barely finished the plate. On the outside, this place looked like it could have the rustic charm of a trattoria. It’s a shame expectations didn’t meet reality and this felt more like a British “spag bol”.

We found this lovely little Italian eatery, only a short walk to the New Theatre. We couldn’t fault the food,, service or the atmosphere. It must be good, as we could see returning customers being greeted and welcomed back by the staff. Well worth a visit and we will return when back in Oxford.

As far as Italian goes, the food was pretty middling and uninspired, and the service while quite uneven was friendly and genuine.
We tried both pizzas and pastas here and they were completely forgettable, but the salads were fresh and delicious, and the meal was redeemed somewhat by one of the desserts, particularly the chocolate cake.
Compared to the Italian places we have tried in west London, it wasn’t even in the same universe but if you need a place to pop in and have a quick bite with friends, I think you could do worse.

Have been wanting to go for a while and it did not disappoint! We got the lunch sets for under £15 and you can choose for it to come with the house white wine which is very refreshing and pairs well with the pasta 🙂
Lasagna was a bit singed but it tasted AMAZING! We also got the tagliatelle della casa which was yummy too!

Friendly and welcoming staff, great atmosphere, tasty Italian food at a great location! We visited Gino’s on our recent trip to Oxford and Bicester Village and were really happy with our choice. The location is super convenient – right by the car park we’d left our car; 5-8min walk from the centre. We had a very warm welcome from the team – the restaurant was rather busy, yet quiet – you could tell people were enjoying the food and atmosphere, we were taken care of very swiftly and even got some dishes recommendations based on our preferences. The food arrived in less than 20mins – it was all cooked fresh and the portion size were perfect! Gino’s has a good selections of Italian dishes and drinks, but perhaps it could be better in terms of the vegan/plant-based options for those that follow such a diet. Overall, we were very happy with the food and the service, would recommend.
