The food is decent. Compared to other Korean restaurants, they offer a larger variety of side dishes, and the portions are generous.

If you value quantity over quality, this place is worth visiting. The ingredients don’t feel particularly fresh.

I would recommend the yookgaejang.

If can deal with the crappy construction traffic on Highway 50, Jang Su is a hidden gem that’s got some of the best Korean food in Northern California.

The restaurant is tucked away in an unassuming-looking shopping center near Mather Airport. There’s both an Autozone and an O’Reilly’s in the same parking lot; Don’t come expecting a Maitre ‘d. It’s a quiet little authentic hansikjib, that does it’s job perfectly; tons of savory knock-out flavors in hearty portions with a big selection of soju and lager. Eat, drink, and be merry.

When the meal starts with banchan, you know you’re in for the real deal. A delicious variety of pickled, marinated, and fermented fruit & veggie bites that are like a circus for your tastebuds; snacking on banchan while chatting and drinking soju with friends is a quintessential part of the Korean dining experience.

But the main thing that drew us here was the galbi jjim. An authentic hot-pot galbi jjim is kind of rare, and even fewer knock it out of the park, but Jang Su hits on all fronts. A sizzling cauldron of slow-braised beef ribs that fall off the bone and melt in your mouth, coupled with a savory mix of hearty potatoes, carrots, and tteokbokki in a rich broth. An absolute culinary stunner. Bring help, it’s a lot of food.

We filled things out with a kimchi spam fried rice and a toasty clay-pot bibimbap, both also absolutely delicious. We needed boxes. I don’t know if they had dessert, but we wouldn’t have had room if they did.

When we got the bill, I was shocked; I thought it was going to be a lot more. This meal would give San Francisco’s Daeho a run for it’s money, at half the price. With the quality and generous portions, it felt like a steal.

Don’t let the humbleness of this restaurant fool you. If you’re looking for really good food, this is some of the best in the Sacramento region. I may not have Michelin stars to hand out, but if I did, this would get a nod. The prices are fair, the staff is nice, and the food is amazing; that’s a winner in my book.

The food was expensive. Taste wasn’t even good. The tofu kitchen Pork belly was definitely not for me. The pork belly had the pork smell and it was just too strong. The spicy pork had torch smell to it, but still alright. The short ribs and the seafood pancake was probably the only 2 good thing.
I wouldn’t come here. I’d look for another korean place.

Went there today with my daughter. Service was attentive warm and prompt. The Bachan side dishes were good. We ordered beef soup, corn mozzarella and another dish, don’t remember the name but they were all delicious ! Flavorful and good portion. I’m not from the area but I would make a trek again to eat here.

Jang Su Korean Tofu & BBQ has excellent service and delicious food. They have a good banchan, too!

The dining room is clean and comfortable. They have good space between the tables. They also have excellent customer service. The food is ready quickly. I love the taste of the food. However, I don’t know if they’re a little overused with MSG or if the seasoning has MSG. I am very thirsty for the rest of the day after my meal. I hope they can pay attention! My family enjoyed our meal, and their outstanding service was excellent.

Stopped by here after climbing in Tahoe. Really hit the spot with the galbitang as it wasn’t too heavy and it consisted of a savory yet delicate soup. They had a variety of banchan (side dishes) as well that really complemented the main dishes. Some of the main dishes and beers were a bit pricey as I’ve seen it available for 2/3 the price. But since I didn’t order those, 5 stars for me with wonderful service.

Great spot for some authentic Korean food! The inside is very clean and modern. The banchan dishes are good and plentiful. The spicy squid stir fry was delicious as well as the pork belly salad and seafood pancake. The Korean fried chicken was fresh and crunchy but it needed a side of sauce or something. Their meat dishes are on the pricier side but might be worth it because their seasoning is on point. I can’t wait to try the other dishes next time.

Been ordering from here (on DD) for a while, but finally got to try it in person. The food was delicious and good portions for each dish. Really happy that I have a Korean place close to home to go to.

Came here for the Galbi Jjim, which not offered by most Korean restaurants, so I was excited. The flavor is on point, but the ingredients they used are very questionable. The beef has a little too much fat marbling on it which I think they can do a better job of trimming it before cooking? The root vegetables they used are sweet potatoes?? Which was shocking to me considering this is an already sweet dish, why don’t they just use regular potatoes.

The potato pancakes we ordered was just not good at all – very moist and they added too much tapioca starch.

The side dish, I have had much better ones in Sacramento.
