Biggest beach bar in Texas and the best place to go to enjoy a day on the beach with music and a few drinks if you want. They have a huge parking lot, a huge deck both covered and uncovered and a bunch of friendly bartenders willing to make your favorite drink. I like the fact there’s no charge to get to the beach and you can walk in any direction. They have a long boardwalk in process of being built. The restrooms available are adequate and relatively clean. They seem to have live music most afternoons. It’s our favorite Beach spot on South Padre Island.

Enjoyed a beautiful day on South Padre Island at Clayton’s Beach Bar and their beach access, where we enjoyed their Taco Tuesday special with others in our group, enjoying the Fishermans Platter with beverages. What really topped off our time there was…all of the awesome sand sculptures that were still standing on tbeir beach for all to enjoy. Kudos to the artists ! Their creations were extremely a sight to see!!

The bar is nice because you have access to the beach right off from it. On weekend nights they usually have live music and during a certain season they have fireworks, which we were able to enjoy during our little romantic weekend getaway. We were also able to enjoy the amazing sandcastles that were being showcased by such talented artists. The food and girly drinks aren’t that great. My husband did enjoy his cold beer.

Good bar food and drinks, scenery was awesome! They had the custom made and castles. The seating area was huge and there about to have their pier done!

It was a coolish place to hang out for the afternoon. $1 Busch light beer and ok fast food burgers and fish.
The sand castle display on their beach front was pretty cool.
We had burgers, onion rings and fries. Typical beach restaurant food.
It was good

Clayton’s food is AMAZING, I had the beef fajitas which EASILY could have feed both me and my husband. But the music was WAY TOO LOUD, we couldn’t even talk across the table from each other and it was ALL in Spanish, which is ok but I do wish it had been more diverse for all who visited. The sand sculptures ALONE are worth the visit … don’t miss Clayton’s, it’s worth at least one visit for sure!!!

Haven’t had the food yet, but the location is the best on the island. This is what the island has been missing for decades. A pier that jets out into the gulf. Enjoy the view or come back to the deck in front of the bar. Awesome view and iys just perfect.

Clayton’s Beach Bar used to be one of my favorite spots to visit, which makes this experience even more disappointing. Yesterday around 1:00 PM, my group and I stopped by just to look around and check out the drink menu to see if there was anything new. We were not causing any issues or being disruptive simply walking around and considering coming back later.
Out of nowhere, a bartender aggressively yelled “WE’RE CLOSED.” This caught us off guard, especially since the hours posted online show the bar closing at 10 PM. If the establishment was temporarily closed or not serving yet, that could have been communicated respectfully. Instead, staff continued yelling “We’re closed!” not only at us but at other customers as well.
Unfortunately, this reflects a decline in what used to be a lively and welcoming place. There seems to be a lack of communication and professionalism between staff and guests. I understand businesses can have schedule changes or private events, but how customers are treated matters. This experience left a very sour impression and is not how good customer service should be handled. I’m honestly glad this place didn’t serve anyone else after this encounter. They’re literally non deserving of other customers hard working money. This issue needs to be fixed
I truly hope management addresses this because Clayton’s used to be a great place to visit.

Fun beach-side place. But maybe not kid friendly. Many food and drink options. Sand sculptures are always a must see.
