My biggest issue is the three staff on site were disorganized and didn’t know about the menu. I asked about a limited time offer on the website and they didn’t know and had to call the owner. I literally held up my phone with their website to them while they spoke to the owner on the phone. That said all three were polite, courteous and apologetic.
The avocado milkshake wasn’t blended well. There were big chunks of ice and avocado. Also the avocado tasted a bit off and browning. I would not order this again.
The Banh Mi was stuffed. I was impressed by the amount of filling and taste but I couldn’t get over the bread. I’m sorry the bread is dense and wasn’t crispy. It wasn’t stale but because it was so dense and chewy it felt stale. I would not order this again.
The vermicelli plate was good. Maybe a tad overcooked but everything was pretty well marinated.(I think they accidentally gave me an extra spring roll by mistake as they didn’t know the item.) In any case, I’d likely order it again because it had good flavour.
My brother also ordered the same thing as me on a separate receipt and they forgot him completely until we followed up with them twice. The first time they didn’t understand even though they looked at the receipt. They only realized it was another order when we followed up a second time.
I’m honestly not impressed. That said, I feel a lot of the issues can be fixed with more staff training and just better bread. If I come back, it’ll likely for just the cooked foods as I can’t get over how dense the bread was the banh mi.
Traffic was still busy and I had to wait for my order but staff seemed friendly.
However I was disappointed in the banh mi. I paid for a loaded sandwich and I expected there to be more meat in the sandwich. This is similar to a regular cold cut I would get from other sandwich places so I was not very pleased. They do have extra butter and pate available which was nice. Flavour was great otherwise.
The vermicelli was okay. The flavour of the meat is good but I would have liked more veggies on the side other than just radishes.
I will give it a try again. But I would like to know if this is the loaded version of the cold cut then next time I’m just going to get the regular version coz it’s not a lot of meat in my opinion. There was also no cilantro in my sandwich
The condensed milk viet cold coffee was good~
And the banh mis were so tasty too. Had the beef rib and the lemongrass chicken. Both super juicy and moist. Do wish a tad more meat but other than that, will be coming here a lot.
Also like the fact that they have several different banh mi options including pork belly and even meatball. They also have 3 sizes of banh mis with the prices starting g at $6.49 for a classic one.
They have an in house made butter and blended with the pate spread through the baguette, perfect bite.
They also have vermicelli bowls and viet coffees, so I’m definitely coming back for those as well.
Service was quick. And i had no issues with communication and getting my order through.
One thing that really stood out to me was how they treat customers. There was someone in front of me with 2 young kids. And the person working there grabbed a couple toothpicks and gave some meat for the kids to sample so the time would feel faster while they waited. That was an excellent move.
Parking is decent. There’s a few food spots in this plaza, but looks like it’s enough for what’s in the plaza. The Pizza Hut and the bakery are takeout spots so it’s going to usually be a quick in and out for those customers.
Great job overall
We also had their fruit salad and that was very refreshing, with lots of fresh fruits, topped off with coconut milk. Nice!
Some finishing touches were still being applied to the space so the menu and photo opportunities were a bit limited. They’re set up for takeout only, so no seating.
They are now officially open so I’ll be back to try more of their offerings!
Original Cold Cut Pork Floss Baguette Sandwich (Loaded):
– good amount of filling, both in meat and veggies
– super crunchy (the kind that shatters into a thousand crumbs with every bite) baguette
– love the butter, it was spread thick and you could taste and feel it, it didn’t just assimilate into the bread
Banh Mis come in 3 sizes: the small is basically a snack size but the medium is average the large is decently long. At around $7 for a medium, I think it is reasonably priced. The space is super small with only a small counter on the side, so takeout recommended.
Banh Mi is the best price for value.
Substantial amount of fresh fillings, the pate is especially delicious, and the Banh mi is made to order.
Everything else is over priced.
This time we ordered the original cold cuts Banh Mi with a combo (+$5.49), which includes a soft drink, a spring roll and a sausage. The sausage and spring roll taste good but nothing special.
We also ordered a deep fried bean curd skin with shrimp and minced pork ($3.49). It was so tiny, just a tad bigger than the fish sauce container. While it tasted crispy and flavorful but what a rip off.
If you want to add a fried egg to your Banh Mi, it’s an extra $2.49. Another rip off. I suggest to fried your own egg at home instead.
All the coffee drinks are expensive.
The Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk is $5.99, which is more expensive than a small original cold cuts Banh mi.
Going forward, we are only going to order Banh Mi and nothing else.
