The Roost hosted a watch party for St. Bonaventure University on March 7. The service, food and atmosphere were fantastic! We were treated like VIPs for three hours! This is one of the best bars in all of Charleston…and it has the BEST BURGER IN CHARLESTON BY FAR!

We recently visited this location and were extremely impressed by the owner and his staff. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was fun to say the least. Any venue or owner that supports local musicians is good in my book but Ralph is simply amazing. We’re truly appreciative for allowing us to come out and being so supportive. Can’t wait to come back! Oh, and thanks to security as well, appreciate everything

This place was quaint and honestly pretty chill. Great spot to grab a drink and hang out with some locals. I only grabbed some drinks but the food menu was looking delicious.

I had the wasabi tuna for an appetizer. It was great! I ordered a build your own burger with jalapeños and mushrooms. Excellent, cooked perfectly and everything was so fresh. The fries were outstanding. Nice selection for adult beverages. I highly recommend this spot. I did have to pay for parking nearby, but I don’t regret it.

I had a different experience than the person I dined with at this place. The atmosphere was great. It was a little loud, but that’s to be expected, and good for a bar. We decided to dine here based on reviews and photos online, but upon arrival we could not find anything resembling what we saw online on the menu. Our server explained that what we saw online was most likely a “brunch special item.”
We made our selections for entrees and an appetizer from the menu. The appetizer, buffalo chicken dip, arrived very quickly and was very tasty. We both agreed that the appetizer was good. When the entrees arrived, that’s when our experiences parted ways.
I ordered fish & chips with a twist, sweet potato fries instead of regular fries. My fish filet seemed to be a large, well seasoned, freshly battered, not frozen, piece of fish which was moist and flaky and tasted great. My sweet potato fries were perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside and soft and tender on the inside.
My fiance ordered a burger and regular fries.
His comments about his meal were “the fries were cold and the burger was dry “
Overall, I was pleased, he was disappointed. But I’d return to try their brunch!

Good atmosphere for a Gamecocks football game but that’s it. They either have to learn to hire more people to work when they’re busy or just see expectations below the dirt customers. Went with a group of friends for a game, half the people’s orders never game. The waitress couldn’t keep track of anyone’s tab and then charged two people for the same tab at different times and wouldn’t admit messing up so the tab got paid twice. I don’t really want to blame it on the waitress since she had 15 tables full of people. Just a mess of a bar organizationally. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone unless you’re going to come and sip water and watch the game but maybe they’ll get confused about that and charge you extra as well.

The Roost is a vibrant neighborhood restaurant and bar that perfectly captures the energy of the local scene. From the moment you walk in, you can feel the upbeat, welcoming atmosphere. The crowd skews younger—college students, young professionals, and locals all gathering to enjoy good food, great drinks, and even better company.
The space is designed with sports fans in mind, featuring an impressive number of TVs strategically placed throughout the bar and dining area. No matter where you sit, you’re guaranteed a great view of the game. Whether it’s college football, basketball, or a big weekend matchup, The Roost makes sure you’re in the heart of the action.
Our server, Ella, was a standout. She was attentive, friendly, and effortlessly kept up with the fast-paced environment. She offered great recommendations and made us feel genuinely taken care of, which added a personal touch to the experience.
Prices were more than reasonable, especially considering the quality of both the food and the overall experience. Whether you’re stopping in for a casual dinner, catching a game with friends, or just grabbing a drink at the bar, The Roost delivers a fun, energetic atmosphere with solid service and a crowd that makes the place feel alive.
We’ll definitely be back—this is the kind of spot that quickly becomes a local favorite.

Had a couple beers and shared an order of chicken nachos. Bar was nearly empty when we came in but filled up quickly which is understandable as the service is friendly and fast. There were booths and high tables available too. Low lighting but that’s to be expected and didn’t subtract from the experience.
