Big Al’s has a special vibe. From the minute you step foot in the door, you can see from the memorabilia and the menu that this place has been around for a while, and it has its very own personality. Is it upscale? No. It is modern? Also no. But it speaks to who Big Al’s is in the community and what they serve to the people who come here. We live in Iowa, but when come to Ashland, we always pop in for lunch. This time, I had two ground beef tacos which came with refried beans and rice. My husband had a regular burger. Both items were very good, served hot by friendly people and we left full and enjoyed our time there. Again, we’ll be back when we’re in Oregon next year.

Simple and delicious. This place looks like it hasn’t changed since the day it opened, and that’s a good thing! Burger joint staples like patty melts, pastrami burgers, onion rings, tots. Who could ask for more?
The menu has heaps of burger options, shakes, and Mexican food. Big juicy portions, classic atmosphere, and the nicest staff you could ask for.

Exactly what you’d expect: good burgers at a good price.
This place hasn’t changed in a million years. The meat is seasoned well, the fries are salted, the lettuce is crunchy.
It’s just a solid spot.
P.S. don’t forget the fry sauce.
Would recommend.

Stopped in while visiting the area and was so glad to have done so. Had the Super Submarine and a small order of fries. The Super Submarine was large and very filling with tons of meat and a great sandwich. The sauce they serve with the fries was also great. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. I will definitely be visiting again when back in town.

I honestly can’t say enough good things about Big Al’s. The food, the portions, the staff, the service, everything about this place makes it one of, if not the best place to eat in Ashland. I’ve been eating here at least once a week since I moved here and not once have I ever been disappointed.

This place is amazing! I’ve lived in southern Oregon off and on for 20 years and never tried it before. I had the Big Al’s 1/4 pound burger and it was delicious! I had the tots with it which were crispy which I love. I would highly recommend this place.
