Great service! The owner came to the table to chat with us , really nice touch.
but not pleased with the samosa or vegetable fritters. The samosa had no flavor, batter way too thick (not typical) and the veg fritters – too hard and crispy, also not enough flavor. Neither tasted fresh either. If you go to any other Indian restaurant, you’ll find samosa with a thinner shell and more flavor on the inside. Fritters aren’t usually that big, crispy nor taste like cardboard and this can be attested by any other Indian restaurant. I’ve been to many and am Indian… I’ve also traveled to India and know how authentic food tastes.
The chana masala which I had last time was very bland (this isn’t typical) but they usually do a great job with the main dishes so don’t hesitate to try them. I haven’t tried all but love the palak paneer and dal makhani. The meat dishes may be as superb and taste homemade as these two dishes taste. Also, this great place tends to make food less spicy (not referring to the heat ie chilis which you can customize) and they’re wonderful about giving chopped green chili and onion on the side. The restaurant may be aiming to serve a clientele that isn’t accustomed to more authentic food, with regard to a couple of the appetizers atleast and the chana masala..
The couple main dishes I loved tasted very fresh and it’s a great place overall. Appreciated the excellent service as well and it’s why I’m giving the 5 stars. Next time I’ll try the samosa chaat and a few more vegetarian dishes and update.
I came in and had their lunch buffet which was absolutely delicious. About 8 items and all of them were tasty, hot, and regularly replaced to stay fresh.
I look forward to coming back and trying the regular menu in the future. An absolute treat! If you’re a fan of this style cuisine you have to give them a try.
Very good service (seemed to be stretched a bit thin, maybe a little scattered), small restaurant, but very accommodating, with reasonable prices. Nice atmosphere and music. Max seating on one table was six people. The chai tea was a bit watered down, but still good.
Appetizer: Vegetable Samosas, 7:20. Not too many vegetables, mainly peas. Very good, though, and the complementary sauces were refreshing.
Entré: Lamb Rogan Josh, 7:45. It is very tender and extremely well-spiced. Evan, at the lowest spice level, it retained its flavor and kick.
Bread: Garlic Naan, 7:45. It was very well seasoned and toasted to a near-cracker, yet not burnt.
Side: Mango Chutney, 8:05. It was very late ☹️, and very sweet. It’s more of a dessert than a side. Refreshing though. Did compensate with an extra portion to-go .
Overall, it was a nice atmosphere, good food, and affordable prices, so I would return.
I recommend this restaurant to everyone I can. I consider it to be the best restaurant in the area, by far, definitely top 5 of any I’ve been to, ever. It’s worth a drive no matter where you’re coming from.
