This is a great restaurant. I’m here on a Sunday night and it’s pretty quiet and cozy. It’s a little cold for outdoor dining, but nice that’s an option. I got nachos and they were great and bigger than I could finish.
The staff was fantastic and attentive to me as a customer, but they are also attentive to keeping a very clean restaurant.
The menu had a great selection and range of prices.
If I lived closer, this would be a regular stop for me.

This is order-at-the-counter Mexican food, and it seriously delivers. Everything we had was very delicious and tasted authentically made, with great prices to match. The staff was really friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. We ordered three tacos and the fajitas—so yummy and full of flavor. They even have a substantial vegan menu! Unique and colorful murals lend ambiance. We didn’t get a chance to try the patio this time, but it looks very comfortable and inviting. Definitely a spot we’ll be coming back to!

A most satisfying meal after a visit to the zen like experience at the Henry Covel park.
I love Chili Verde and ever since moving to the east coast of US, hadn’t had a decent one. La Chimichanga serves a very decent Chile Verde, moist and juicy with a tart sauce..excellent! We were a party of 9 so a lot of food was ordered..nachos, Chicken Fajitas, tacos, flautas, chimichangas. Everybody was happy with their food. We also ordered the margaritas and boy were they good !! Great stop …thank you.

This place was amazing! My wife and I had just come from the Fasting Prayer Mountain of America and decided to stop here for lunch — it was our first time, and we were thoroughly impressed.
The food was incredibly fresh, and the ingredients tasted top-notch. They were also generous with their sauces and salsas, which we really appreciated.
The only downside to our visit was that I got stung by a bee on my finger while eating outside. If you choose to sit outdoors, be aware that some bees might want to join you for lunch — literally!
That said, parking was easy and convenient, and the place was exceptionally clean.
We’ll definitely be coming back!

I heard good things about this place and I was not disappointed. The young man behind the counter was very helpful and I got the chimichanga and took half home. I got chips and salsa with this wonderful hot bean dip. They have a full bar so i will be back for Happy Hour 2-6pm. Good prices. Generous servings.

There is no shortage of great Mexican food in Santa Cruz county, so how to stand out? La Chimichanga had great service. Clean tables, counters, bar top, salsa bar and patio all kept clean. Full bar. A margarita with your tacos is a bonus! Easy access to highway and plenty of parking. Crispy tacos were strong enough to hold the contents but not greasy at all. Produce was fresh. Nothing was too salty. Salsa bar a great touch to try different tastes and heat with your food. The bean dip was awesome. We will definitely return again soon.

My go-to spot for Mexican food in the Santa Cruz area. Can’t beat it. The salsa bar is what separates itself from the others. Great taste and consistency of the salsas as well. Isn’t runny or too thick to break your chip. I always recommend it to my friends and now to you. Consistently welcoming service over the past year I’ve been coming here. Right off the 17 freeway, don’t miss it.

Summary: La Chimichanga has the same awesome vegan menu with lots of options. The best bit is their next level jalapeños / salsa at salsa bar. Best in town i claim!!
Ok so, Question: What could be better than an entire vegan menu in a tex-mex restaurant?
Answer: A vegan menu with faux meat proteins.
La Chimichanga is one of the few good ones who understands the vegan clientele. We really appreciate you! 🙂
also, they have weekday offering of happy hour from 2 to 6 PM which I believe is like one dollar off drinks
surface is usually pretty fast although it’s usually just one person who is also dealing with drive-through. The lady, I talk to has been working here three years and had worked here when it went under other names such as “habaneros” and “salsas”!!
Ambiance: mexican music with lots of frickin accordians.
They are pet friendly and have a nice patio outback that is fenced in where you could bring your yapping little fuzz butt

First time eating at this place. Unsure if it was sit down then order or not. Turns out it’s a fast food place. Husband had the super asada burrito wrapped in foil served in a plastic basket lined w wax paper no utensils given and I the chimichanga asada burrito served on ceramic plate w fork n knife. Food was ok. Would be nice if the self serve salsa bar sauces were labeled. The extra sides at the salsa bar looked good, but I only saw plastic salsa cups to use so just tried the salsa.
