If you’re looking for a classy polished Metro Bar and restaurant experience, do your best to steer clear of Boyles Tavern. What you will find here is pretty much exactly the opposite of that. Boils, I throwback Speakeasy Style Bar, has that locals only feel that is increasingly hard to find in Monmouth County or anywhere. It is essentially just a house in a residential area that, when you go inside, holds what I’m sure a lot of people will call their own secret spot. They have a pretty impressive selection of craft, local, and major brand beers on tap but do not come here looking for food. I suppose they have a kitchen but they do not have a menu and as far as I know nobody has cooked there in years. Your options are limited pretty much to just chips. I suppose you could order a pizza. But people don’t come here for food. Boyle’s has a full-sized shuffleboard table and a pool table as well as some video games, but of course with a place like this the best reason to go is the people. You’ll probably see someone you know, and if you don’t you’ll see someone who’s worth knowing because the people who come here tend to be pretty friendly. It’s probably one of my favorite places to drop in.

The Boyle’s are the best people. It is a space-time vortex that takes you to your favorite uncle ‘s bar in 1962.

Boyle’s is an enduring neighborhood bar that has been in business for decades. It’s unassuming and sits in the middle of a quiet residential neighborhood. Don’t let that deter you from visiting. The drinks are very good and the staff is consistently friendly and accommodating.

Neighhood bar. Nothing fancy. Drinks are inexpensive. Local craft beers offer as well as name brands. No food is served here. TV’s to watch sports. Joe the owner is a nice guy. Check the website to see when they open before you go. Hours are unusual.
