We visit for a very sad occasion. We list our Beautiful amazing Auntie Linda Kay Jackson Crosby that live 5min away. We laid Her to rest on September 22at the Potters House. She always told me about this soul food cafe. She was so right the food is delicious. We will come back. Raymond you were a excellent waiter, the Host friendly very nice. I got two salmon croquettes. On my way out to the airport was very delicious. Our Aunt and Cousins from Beaumont, Texas. Me my Husband our two youngest kids and my Sister from California me and my Sister had the pork chops were on hit. My two kids had chicken and fries everything was so so good.

Group of Trinity Singles went for early dinner. The sweet potatoes & cornbread are the best ever! I will return. The staff was friendly and service was great! It’s a More of a “Healthier tasting soul food” for those who are not accustomed to minimal seasoning. Lots of condiment choices available! Very clean!

Best chicken wings I’ve had in a long time. The owner and staff were great. The sweet tea was perfect. I loved all the sides: cabbage, black eyed peas, green beans and chicken tetrazzini. I felt like a kid again sitting at my grandma’s table. Glad we stopped.

I’ve passed this location for years and finally tried it out today. We have been missing out. The food was delicious. We had the fried catfish, chicken fried chicken, collard greens, cabbage, corn, candy yams, corn bread, and peach cobbler. Total price $38. Everything was delicious, seasoned well, and not too salty. The service was prompt and the food came out in about 15 minutes freshly cooked. I will be back again to try other items.

Great atmosphere, good food. I had the pork spare ribs, tender & seasoned well; the candied yams were good not overly sweet just needed a little salt to bring out the flavor; cabbage was good. But the cornbread was very good and the kool-aid was DELICIOUS. Will definitely go again, family friendly prices and nice waitstaff.

Fist time coming here after seeing it for the last few months. When we walked in we waited at the counter for about 5 mins before anyone came and greeted us, one of the waitresses came behind the counter to do something but never acknowledged us. Finally an older guy came to take our orders. I asked for chicken fried chicken, greens and yams on the sides and my husband asked for smothered pork chops, Mac and cheese and cabbage. Lo and behold when we get home we both have Mac and cheese and cabbage for sides. We don’t live in cedar hill so it wasn’t easy to just go back up there. It annoys me so bad when restaurants don’t follow instructions on ppls orders. If we pay it needs to be right. I want to go back and try their pigs feet but the sides need to be right. I’ll give them one more chance cause I like to support black businesses.

Do not get anything with cheese noodles. Noodles were cooked too hard and cheese was not melted. Price’s too high. Chicken fried too hard and it needs more seasoning. One person tried to order a salad and they were out of lettuce. My daughter wanted yams, and they were out. They were out of onions and cheese as well. I ordered chicken fried chicken, and it was fried on old grease and fried very hard. Only had the option to get kool-aid, water, or tea because the soda machine was not working. Waitress forgot to take two orders at our table of 10. The menu stated they have Daily Specials, so I asked what was the Daily Special and waitress stated they didn’t have any today. One person at our table didn’t get their food until we all almost finished all our food. Over all do not come because it’s overrated. Four people $78-No thank you!!

Ok! First of all.. When you 1st walk in to this warm atmosphere the front of this place it give a feel of warmth and welcoming atmosphere. The place is gorgeous an the decoration is awesome. The music relaxes you and make you wanna sing along with it. The staff was awesome and inviting. I’m glad I had dinner there and the food was great an it was brought to us in a timely manner
I would love to sing there one day soon…

My Mom has been raving about this place for a couple of months now so while out with her we decided to go and have lunch. We walked right in, sat down and was greeted by Aaliyah whom my Mom had seen at the location before at a previous visit. Aaliyah is kind, hospitable, personable and delivered excellent customer service. We chatted a few minutes, she took our orders and within 15 minutes or so our food was delivered to our table. She continued to check on us throughout our dining time…not too much or too little. She’s great! For lunch my Mom had the small plate of chicken tenders, enchilada casserole cup, and black eyed peas with cornbread. I had the small plate of fried chicken wings, chicken and broccoli cheese casserole cup, greens, and cornbread. We thoroughly enjoyed both of our meals. The wings and greens were seasoned just right, the small cup casserole was delicious, and the small plate meal was enough to fill me up. The location is quaint and quiet and the jazz music added to the atmosphere and ambience of the cafe as well. This was my first but definitely won’t be my last visit!!

I was invited by some friends and when I looked up the reviews I sent a copy of one of the pictures in the reviews and then is when I should have followed my first mind and declined the invite.
However, wanted to find a new soul food place and support so I went along for the experience.

Oxtails greasy no gravy, Neck-bones dry as if they were cooked in an airfryer no a drip of gravy or juices from simmering, Catfish no seasoning , Baked Chicken as big as the palm of my head which they referred to as a quarter this ahad to be a baby chick!! greens awful mac & cheese can’t even describe it’s taste but spoiled taste, cabbage bland, black eyed peas taste like out the can, chicken tetrazzini (the worst in life) SPOILED CHEESE OR THE MILK OR SOME INGREDIENT that gave the taste of spoiled cheese and milk, enchilada casserole like elementary school lunch, broccoli & cheese casserole no taste , dressing another unexplainable taste like the gizzards were bad or something added that gave it a foul taste, cornbread burnt & dry, pound cake and peach cobbler didn’t get a fair chance because the food was so nasty the one friend that did taste it was to get the other food tastes out of their mouthes and they went in the trash as well.
I ATTEMPTED to call the restaurant prior to my review with hopes of a refund and an explanation maybe they were unaware BUT the number listed gives zero information only an option to get a text with directions.
This was purchased to come home and share amongst us all.
Collectively 4 people was utterly disgusted with the food and its quality.
The pictures should speak volumes.
